Essential Job Functions: Supervisory/Administrative Responsibilities:

1. Manages faculty and administrative support staff assigned to the program. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the policies of Nova Southeastern University and the Health Professions Division.

2. Is responsible for the organization, administration, review, planning, and development of the program.

3. Continually reviews the program's curriculum to assess effectiveness of both the academic and clinical aspects of the program.

4. Allocates the program's faculty and financial resources.

5. Manages the distribution of workload among faculty and staff.

6. Oversees the scheduling of classes, internships, and the reporting of students grades.

7. Monitors the recruitment of faculty and students.

8. Oversees the development and evaluation of faculty.

9. Advises and counsels students, faculty, and staff in matters pertaining to the program.

Academic Responsibilities:

1. Oversees the accreditation and self-study processes.

2. Facilitates cases, teaches units, and teaches courses as needed.

3. Participates in and/or chairs committees for the University, Health Professions Division, Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences, and for the Physical Therapy Department as assigned or elected.

4. Works with the Department Chair to set program goals and objectives, including research and service activities.

5. Attends "Orientation Sunday," the Saturday night senior dinner dance, and commencement activities.

Financial Responsibilities:

1. Projects and manages the Program budget with Chair approval

2. Aids a coordinated effort in establishing needs for equipment and supplies for purchase.

3. Assists in the procurement of outside funds.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and others on a regular basis.

2. Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.

3. Ability to demonstrate effective personnel management skills in working cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and support staff at all levels.

4. Presents personally as an energetic, articulate, visionary; an effective decision maker and problem solver, an independent thinker, a critical thinker, and a leader of students and faculty.

5. Maintains a professional development plan, which may include research and/or other creative activities, to assure growth and currency within an academic or administrative field.

6. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, employees, regulatory agencies or members of the professional community.

7. Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups in the English language, orally and in writing.

8. Ability to apply basic financial and accounting concepts to interpret financial statements, balance sheets, and managerial accounting records.

9. Must be functional with email, word processing, and spreadsheet skills.

10. Must be willing to further develop one's computer skills to stay current with technology.

11. Must have ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.

12. Assures program visibility within the profession by contributing to the professional association via serving in various capacities within the American Physical Therapy Association and the Florida Physical Therapy Association.
Job Requirements:  
Required Certifications/Licensures: Eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in the State of Florida.
Required Education: Doctoral Degree
Major (if required):  
Required Experience: 1. Must be a graduate of an accredited physical therapy program.

2. Doctoral degree in an appropriate area of specialization.

3. Must have a minimum of five years of clinical experience and have a record of experience in administration and teaching.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Maintains active membership within the American Physical Therapy Association.

2. Prior experience as an instructor in a distance education environment.

3. Operational knowledge of the Internet and web-related technologies.
