Essential Job Functions: This position is contingent on the availability and continuation of external-funding and/or contract. As such, any offer of employment may be withdrawn or employment ended in the event the external funding and/or contract ceases or is reduced.

1. Provides immediate medical evaluation of student first-aid needs.

2. Provides first-aid care appropriate to the immediate student or staff needs or referring care to parents. If necessary, refers the situation to emergency medical services.

3. Provides follow-up care to students and staff.

4. Initiates communications with students, staff, and parents as it relates to health issues, student injury, and health education.

5. Provides referral to parents and doctors for required medical information/care.

6. Maintains appropriate daily student logs, passes, records, attendance, and accident reports on the Student Tracking and Record Solution for School Nurses system, (STARS). Backs up system at the end of the school year and restarts database at the beginning of each school year.

7. Assists the school parents and staff in the submission of insurance claims and coordinates follow-up action.

8. Maintains the orderly operation of the clinic.

9. Maintains the student health card, medical and HRS required files.

10. Administers medications as prescribed by physician and approved by parent, when accompanied by a completed Medical Authorization Form(s).

11. Orders Clinic supplies as needed, with approval from Director.

12. Provides health resource information to the teaching staff as requested.

13. Establishes and articulates in writing on-going procedures systems and operational plans as they relate to the health and safety issues and needs (i.e. head lice) and follow daily.

14. Establishes and maintains confidentiality of all student, staff, and school health issues.

15. Coordinates activities with Lower and Upper School.

16. Requires the same duty calendar as teachers.

17. Assists in special projects assignments as assigned or required.

18. Performs other duties as assigned or required
Marginal Job Functions: Maintains work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Familiarity with school health programs.
Job Requirements:  
Required Certifications/Licensures: 1. Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Florida State Board of Nursing. License must be in good standing.

2. Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

3. Successful completion of the FDLE Background Screening.

Required Experience: Graduation from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program and one (1) year of medical care experience in a pediatric clinic or school environment.
