Essential Job Functions: 1. Oversees the quality controls used to ensure the high standards of instructional design consistent with higher education standards.
2. Assists with annual budget development.
3. Ensures a customer service approach is used in responding to faculty requests for instructional design support.
4. Conducts needs assessments and strategic learning assessments to develop the basis for curriculum development or to update curricula.
5. Analyzes performance data to determine effectiveness of instructional systems, courses, or instructional materials.
6. Assists in defining instructional learning, or performance objectives in collaboration with faculty.
7. Provides analytical support for the design and development of training curricula, learning strategies, educational policies, or courseware standards.
8. Researches and evaluates emerging instructional technologies or methods.
9. Provides technical advice on the use of current instructional technologies, including computer-based training, desktop videoconferencing, multimedia, and distance learning technologies.
10. Interviews subject matter experts or conducts other research to develop instructional content.
11. Recommends changes to curricula or delivery methods, based on information such as instructional effectiveness data, current or future performance requirements, feasibility, and costs.
12. Develops instructional; materials and products for technology-based redesign of courses.
13. Designs learning products, including web-based aids or electronic performance support systems.
14. Adepts instructional content or delivery methods for different levels or types or learners.
15. Assists in the production of a variety of media products for online courses such as DVDs, webcasts, video streams, and podcasts, and ensures that products are provided to stakeholders.
16. Collaborates with faculty and staff to ensure program quality and timely completion of products.
17. Ensures that instructional materials are consistent with higher education standards and instructional design principles.
18. Designs instructional aids for stand-alone or instructor-led classroom on online use.
19. Assists with administering the copyright clearance process for print and non-print resources, including but not limited to the securing of permissions to use articles, graphics, film clips, video clips, music, and animation.
20. Develops instruction or training roadmaps for online and blended learning programs.
21. Edits instructional materials, such as simulation exercises and instructor guides.
22. Develops measurement tools to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction or training interventions.
23. Applies current standards and best practices in quality pedagogy and standards, including but not limited to Quality Matters, Americans With Disabilities Act and other appropriate regulations, and intellectual property concerns.
24. Recommends instructional methods, such as individual or group instruction, self-study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, and role-playing, appropriate for content and learner characteristics.
25. Presents and makes recommendations regarding course design, technology, and instruction delivery options.
26. Develops master course documentation or manuals according to applicable accreditation, certification, or other requirements.

27. Assists with testing the functionality of various applications and systems from instructional design and end-user perspectives.

Develops, coordinates and delivers professional development programs to empower faculty to apply pedagogical and teaching strategies for adult populations to maximize student learning and increase student satisfaction, including techniques for creating student engagement, improving retention, and acknowledging diversity in order to help adult learners build on their existing knowledge base and learn in a purposeful way.
29. Coaches faculty to be able to teach in and assess the quality of learning in all types of active student-centered learning environments (online, distance, blended, and traditional classroom).
30. Teaches instructors to use instructional technology or to integrate technology with teaching.
31. Observes and provides feedback on instructional techniques, presentation methods, or instructional aids.
32. Assess effectiveness and efficiency of instruction according to ease of instructional technology use and student learning, knowledge transfer, and satisfaction.
33. Collects and analyzes data, and makes recommendations regarding administrative, organizational, and operational improvements.
34. Evaluates and recommends purchases of hardware, software, and peripherals.
35. May plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of student employees and interns, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating.
36. Ensures compliance with University and departmental policies and procedures.
37. Completes special projects as assigned.

1. Education and Training - Thorough knowledge or principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement or training effects.
2. English Language - Thorough knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
3. Communications and Media - Thorough knowledge of media production, visual, verbal, and interactive communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and persuade via written, oral, and visual media.
4. Computers and Electronics - Thorough knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications, programming, and/or systems configuration.
5. Customer and Personal Service - Thorough knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of user satisfaction.
6. Design - Thorough knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles.
7. Psychology - General knowledge of human behavior and performance, individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; and learning and motivation.

Preferred Qualifications: 1. Master's Degree in Education, Instructional Design, or related field and five (5) years of relevant instructional design experience.
2. Experience making mock-ups, proofs of concept, and prototypes of low or high-fidelity
3. Multimedia production skills (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects)
4. Experience building interactives/simulations in Articulate Storyline
