Essential Job Functions: 1. Administers, awards, and completes revisions and adjustments to awards for the financial aid programs to students, including grants, loans, and Federal Work-Study ensuring that awards are within established parameters in accordance with federal financial aid regulations, state statutes, and institutional guidelines.

2. Provides counseling and advisement services to students and parents relative to financial matters.

3. Conducts financial aid presentations and workshops for prospective and current students. Workshops are held at both local and out-of-area locations and may be held in the evenings and weekends.

4. Performs financial aid functions including verification, c-flag reviews, and aggregate loan breakdowns of selected student financial aid applications, as required by the United States Department of Education.

5. Responds to inquiries from prospective and current students and/or parents to facilitate the evaluation of special circumstances.

6. Attends and participates in financial aid and other campus workshops and meetings as it relates to financial aid.

7. Provides specific counseling to NSU students concerning registration, bursar, and advisement processes.

8. Processes parking decal applications and completes issuance of parking decals.

9. Liaises with the Admissions Office regarding recruitment and other financial aid matters.

10. Communicates directly with academic units regarding registration issues for students requesting financial aid.

11. Works closely with the Dean and Campus Director during registration periods.

12. Works evenings and weekends, as requested.

13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Marginal Job Functions: 1. Travels to and participates in job related meetings, conferences and workshops.

2. Provides assistance to management regarding special project and assignments.

17. Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) with regard to student privacy and protection regulations.

1. May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.

2. May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils and computer keyboards.

Required Experience: 1. Minimum one (1) year of work experience in financial aid, including awarding federal Title IV and state financial aid funds.

2. At least two (2) years of counseling work experience or related customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Master's degree.

2. Minimum one (1) year financial aid work experience in an LCME (Liaison Committee on Medical Education) accredited school or institution.

3. Bilingual, preferably Spanish-speaking.

4. Experience working with SunGard Banner system.

5. Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) with regard to student privacy and protection regulations.
