Program Director
1. Interact with the Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics regarding overall educational goals of the Prosthodontics Advanced Specialty Program.
2. Plans, develops, evaluates, and revises curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction in the didactic prosthodontic courses and in the clinic.
3. Serve on national committees.

1. Provides high quality instruction in prosthodontics and dentistry to ensure students meet course outcomes.
2. Selects and obtains materials and supplies, including textbooks and laboratory equipment.
3. Prepares course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
4. Prepares materials for laboratory activities and course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
5. Identifies specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
6. Initiates, facilitates, and moderates classroom discussions.
7. Supervises laboratory sessions.
8. Maintains student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
9. Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory and clinic work, assignments, and/or papers.
10. Compiles, administers, and grades examinations, or assigns this work to others.
11. Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
12. Acts as advisor to student organizations, ensuring adherence to college and university policies and procedures.

Clinical Instruction
13. Supervise and assesses all clinical activity and educational needs including patient and client teaching needs using a variety of methods.
14. Coordinates training programs with other CDM clinics, hospitals, health agencies, or vocational schools.
15. Demonstrates patient care in clinical units of hospitals.
16. Treat patients in Faculty Practice

Research & Scholarship
17. Conducts research and/or scholarly activity in a particular field of knowledge and publishes findings in professional journals, books, or electronic media.
18. Writes grant proposals to procure external research funding.
19. Reviews papers for publication in journals.
20. Supervises undergraduate or graduate teaching, internship, and research work.

Service & Professional Development
21. Participates in campus and community events, such as giving presentations to the public.
22. Actively identifies opportunities and provides service relating to fields of expertise for the benefit of internal and external communities.

Other Assigned Duties
23. Collaborates with staff and colleagues to address teaching and research issues, and to improve students' learning experiences.
24. Serves on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
25. Participates in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities.
26. Mentors junior and adjunct faculty members.
27. Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
28. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Marginal Job Functions: 1. Support and interact in all of the teaching and research activities of the Department.
2. Assist Chair in special projects required or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Oral Healthcare- Comprehensive knowledge of the information and contemporary techniques used in Dentistry to diagnose and treat patients. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventative health-care measures.
2. Education and Training – General knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
3. English Language - Thorough knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
4. Customer and Personal Service - General knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of user satisfaction.

2. Instructing - Proficient skills in teaching others how to do something.
3. Reading Comprehension - Proficient understanding of written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.

1. Deductive Reasoning - The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

3. Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

Physical Requirements:
1. Speech Recognition - Must be able to identify and understand the speech of another person.
2. Speech Clarity - Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand you.
3. May be required to work nights or weekends.
4. May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
5. May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils, mobile devices, and computer keyboards.

Job Requirements:  
Required Certifications/Licensures: 1. Certificate from an accredited U.S. advanced specialty program in Prosthodontics.

2. Board certified in the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Diplomat of the American Board of Prosthodontics.
Required Education: DDS or DMD or equivalent foreign dental degree
Major (if required):  
Required Experience: For Assistant Professor rank: Experience teaching in a dental school

For Associate Professor rank: Continued professional growth and success in full-time university teaching for four (4) years at the rank of Assistant Professor; scholarly contributions to the university, higher education, or one's academic area(s) of specialization that have received peer recognition.

For Professor rank: Continued professional growth and success in full-time university teaching for five (5) years at the rank of Associate Professor; significant scholarly contributions to the university, higher education, or one's academic area(s) of specialization that have that have been recognized as substantial by one's peers.
