Essential Job Functions: Teaching
1. Provides high quality instruction in field of expertise, ensuring students meet course outcomes.
2. Prepares course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
3. Prepares materials for laboratory activities and course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
4. Supervises laboratory sessions.
5. Maintains student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
6. Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory and clinic work, assignments, and/or papers.
7. Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.

Clinical Instruction
1. Assesses clinical education needs and patient and client teaching needs using a variety of methods.
2. Supervises student/resident procedures ensuring that the institution’s clinical protocols and evidence-based dentistry protocols are followed. Prioritizes patient and provider safety in all clinical procedures.

Research & Scholarship
1. Conducts or participates in dental research activities.
2. May supervise undergraduate or graduate research work.

Service & Professional Development
1. Actively identifies opportunities and provides service relating to fields of expertise for the benefit of internal and external communities.

Other Assigned Duties
1. Collaborates with staff and colleagues to address teaching and research issues, and to improve students' learning experiences.
2. Serves on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
3. Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
4. Completes other projects as required.
5. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Marginal Job Functions: Supports and interacts in the research activities of the Department.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
Dental Medicine - Comprehensive knowledge of the information/techniques needed in Dental Medicine. This includes symptoms/treatment planning.

Skills:
1. Contemporary clinical dentistry skills and techniques.
2. Active Learning –Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
3. Monitoring – Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements/take corrective action.

Abilities:
1. Oral Comprehension — The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
2. Oral Expression — The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
3. Speech Clarity — The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
4. Written Comprehension — The ability to read/understand information and ideas presented in writing.
5. Deductive Reasoning - The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
6. Inductive Reasoning - The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
7. Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
8. May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
9. May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils, mobile devices, and computer keyboards.
10. Travel - Must be able to travel on a daily and/or overnight basis.
11. May be required to work nights or weekends.

Required Certifications/Licensures:  
Required Education: DDS/DMD or equivalent foreign dental degree.
Major (if required):  
Required Experience: For Assistant Professor rank: Experience teaching in a dental school

For Associate Professor rank: Continued professional growth and success in full-time university teaching for four (4) years at the rank of Assistant Professor; scholarly contributions to the university, higher education, or one's academic area(s) of specialization that have received peer recognition.

For Professor rank: Continued professional growth and success in full-time university teaching for five (5) years at the rank of Associate Professor; significant scholarly contributions to the university, higher education, or one's academic area(s) of specialization that have that have been recognized as substantial by one's peers.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Experience in digital dentistry technology with various platforms.

2. Considerable experience with CAD/CAM and its application in digital dentistry.

3. Clinical expertise or advanced training on contemporary restorative dentistry.

4. Prior teaching and research experience preferred.

5. College-level teaching experience in higher education.
