Job Title: TEMP Project Manager - Intern

Essential Job Functions: 1. Participates in the programming, planning, design and construction for new construction, renovation, remodeling, and maintenance projects.

2. Serves as liaison and assists with the direction of assignments to design professional architects/ engineer, general contractors, and construction management firms.

3. Conducts reviews of facilities plans as prepared by design consultants to assure compliance with applicable codes NSU standards.

4. Assists with budget management and project schedule, construction compliance with applicable codes.

5. Reviews and approves purchase requisitions and payment of invoices. Verifies adherence to construction contracts, attends pre-bid, pre-construction, project design and construction meetings.

6. Assists with project startup by identifying critical issues and milestones, developing a schedule, and coordinating with end users – IT, Telecom, and Procurement regarding scope and schedule.

7. Assists with projects, from first request through close out, in accordance with established standards, schedules and budget parameters.

8. Familiar with the workings of the various local city and state agencies as it relates to the projects permitting and approval process.

9. Coordinates with Project Managers and Procurement on the entry, status and receipt of Purchase Requests.

10. Oversees furniture and equipment deliveries to ensure it meets NSU standards.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Marginal Job Functions: 1. Assists the Director, Senior Project Manager and Project Managers of Design and Construction with day to day operations.

2. Coordinates and participates in the development of specifications, estimates, and bid documents for furniture and equipment needed for renovations and construction.

3. Maintain library of product literature for furniture, finish materials and equipment.

4. Updates project schedules and tracks current project status.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Knowledge of project management, construction, and budget management, including schedule of values and payment approval.

2. Ability to read and interpret diagrams, architectural drawings, schematics and blueprints.

3. Familiarity with design and construction software such as: CAD, Revit, and Microsoft Project.

4. Knowledge of applicable codes and construction quality control systems including inspections

5. Knowledge of construction recordkeeping including final records retention methods, close out, punch-list and final completion requirements.

6. Knowledge of Florida Building Code.

7. Knowledge, including but not limited to: planning, design and construction of new and renovated higher education facilities.

8. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software applicable to area of responsibility, spreadsheets, computer aided design, and project scheduling programs.

9. Possess strong written and verbal skills, and the ability to work and communicate effectively with all constituents in a fast pace high volume work area.

10. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the community.

11. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for reporting purposes.

12. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and express ideas effectively and concisely.

13. Ability to work cooperatively and demonstrate a "team" attitude with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels.

14. Ability to multi-task and effectively set priorities and maintain work area and files organized.

15. Ability to work effectively in a service oriented environment and with frequently changing priorities.


1. Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials.

2. Must be able to safely lift 25 pounds.

3. Must be able to work in a paper dust environment.

4. Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch to gain access to drawings, etc.

5. Must be able to reach overhead.

6. Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for up to 8 hours.

7. Near-visual acuity needed to read equipment diagrams.

8. Depth perception, field of vision and color vision needed.

9. Exposed to wet and hot conditions.

10. Exposed to noise and vibration from construction sites.

11. May be required to work in confined areas to access space.
Job Requirements:  
Required Certifications/Licensures: Have and maintain a valid Driver’s License with no more than 3 points.
Required Education: Active Degree Student
Major (if required): Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Required Experience:  
Preferred Qualifications: 1. One (1) year of experience in higher education, institutional or commercial construction.
