Essential Job Functions: 1. Protects the institution by assuring that proposals and awards are in compliance with federal, state, agency and institution policies of grants and contracts. Provides consultation and technical assistance services to faculty and staff regarding obtaining and managing sponsored awards, with capability of handling an award portfolio of increased volume and/or complexity.
2. Establishes and maintains official electronic files for applications for funding and also for award management.
3. Serves as a liaison between funding agencies, faculty and staff, and other business units within the university.
4. Assists faculty and staff with sponsor forms and documentation, budget preparation and revisions.
5. Works closely with other university offices (e.g. Contract and Grant Accounting, Human Resources, Payroll, Budget, Procurement, Risk Management, Institutional Advancement, etc.)
6. Serves as a resource to faculty and staff for identifying funding opportunities; submitting proposals, reports, and/or requests to external sponsors; and interpreting regulations, terms and conditions, policies, and other specific and general guidelines in sponsored program administration.
7. Researches and reviews changes to remain current on relevant research administration topics.
8. Assists in developing and participating in presentations, training and other outreach efforts provided by TRED/RTT/OSP to the NSU research administration community.
9. Performs, and/or provides input and leadership on behalf of the OSP Grant Officer team, to special initiatives supporting continued evolution of the OSP, as assigned.
10. Assist in providing guidance and training to team members as needed under direction of Associate Director/Director.
11. Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Marginal Job Functions: 1. Attends research administration workshops, conferences, trainings, etc.

2. Performs special projects as assigned by the Associate Director and Director.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Proficiency with MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel, and/or other word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
2. Demonstrated ability to work in a deadline-driven, fast-paced, high stress environment with precision and accuracy.
3. Extensive knowledge of and experience with reviewing federal and non-federal laws, regulations and policies relating to sponsored programs as well as use of electronic systems and record keeping; good understanding of research administration as a field inclusive of pre- and post-award.
4. Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills
5. Demonstrated ability to apply information from multiple sources to make informed decisions and provide appropriate guidance to members of the team.
6. Ability to operate and make sound judgments with minimal supervision.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Major (if required):  
Required Experience: Five (5) years of progressive experience in the field of research administration.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Master's Degree and/or CRA certification.
2. Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Professional, SharePoint, and university systems.
