Essential Job Functions: 1. Assists in interactions with operational groups to ensure coordination between project activities, exposures, and insurance coverages (Commercial General Liability, Automobile Liability, Property, Professional Liability, Educators Legal Liability, Workers' Compensations, Travel Policies, Marine Policies, Various Bonds, and other Miscellaneous Policies).

2. Administers all aspects of the insurance program renewals, including managing compilation and development of underwriting data. Works collaboratively with insurance brokers, carriers, and project teams to ensure overall compliance with Risk Management goals, policies, and procedures.

3. Establishes and maintains records including insurance policies and loss experience.

4. Reviews and analyzes vendor insurance certificates and liaises with vendors to ensure accuracy and compliance. Manages requests for outgoing insurance certificates per contractual agreements.

5. Manages all aspects of claims including the receipt and review of all accident/incident reports and associated documentation; and reports claims/incidents to the appropriate insurance carriers. Maintains file on all open claims and reviews status of claims monthly with insurance carriers, TPA's and attorneys. Investigates incidents with departments and outside vendors as needed.

6. Reviews all claims and insurance related invoices for accuracy. Prepares and processes all related invoices for payment approval.

7. Maintains database for all University vehicles, and properties. Keeps insurance requirements updated.

8. Develops and maintains tracking and retrieval system for monitoring policy renewals and claims.

9. Verifies driving records for operators of University vehicles and maintains ongoing database.

10. Prepares monthly reports and any other correspondence, forms, and reports, as necessary.

11. Participates in the annual budget process for the Risk Management office.

12. Responds to routine inquiries on program policy and procedural matters.

13. Attends Safety Committee Meeting or other meetings in Director's absence.

14. Maintains awareness of insurance, industry, and legal issues that may impact the Department.

15. Provides education, support, and training to University community to build risk awareness across the organization.

16. Ensures continuity in the department in the absence of the Director.

17. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Marginal Job Functions:  
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Knowledge of principles, practices, regulations, and standards related to risk management.

2. Technical knowledge of insurance industry practices.

3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with insurance representatives, attorneys.

4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

5. Able to prioritize, organize, and manage time and resources effectively.

6. Detail-oriented and self-directed.

7. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Job Requirements:  
Required Certifications/Licensures:  
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Major (if required): Business, Finance, or related field
Required Experience: Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in insurance/risk management field.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Bachelors degree in Risk Management and/or Insurance and adjuster’s license.

2. Knowledge of risk management in an academic institution.
