Contributes to NSU students’ success and engagement by supporting a welcoming and engaging residential community where students can work towards personal, academic, and professional goals.
Must be able to live on-campus and be available for on-call responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions:
Plans, directs, and coordinates work activities of assigned support staff, including hiring, coaching, and training all in accordance with university policies and procedures.
A. Community Development and Educational Curriculum:
1. Provides personal assistance to students through advising, counseling, discipline, and crisis intervention.
2. Provides leadership to staff and students in the development of a community environment. (Floor community, hall community, and connection to the campus community).
3. Facilitates the educational curriculum for the graduate residential students.
4. Assists students with issues typical to graduate developmental levels (for ex.- transition to graduate school or professional field, financial concerns, stress management, study skills, mentoring of undergraduates, etc.).
5. Maintains a high level of visibility by making every effort to get to know residents in the area and attending resident and staff activities.
6. Supports and acts as a resource to the Resident Student Association.
7. Ensures that the needs of residents, including those of minorities and special interest groups are assessed and that programs are initiated to meet those needs.
8. Ensures that community development records are maintained including hall assessments, resources, expenses, participation, etc. for future use by staff and student leaders.
B. Policy Enforcement & Duty Coverage:
1. Encourages self-discipline, self-government, and respect for individual rights among residents; encourage individual assertiveness.
2. Clearly communicates Residential Life policy to staff and residents.
3. Assists RAs and GAs in confronting residents who violate policies.
4. Manages the educational discipline process for the graduate apartments.
5. Conducts disciplinary conferences and apply sanctions when appropriate.
6. Assists with weekday, weekend, evening, and vacation duty coverage of campus.
C. Staff Development:
1. Supervises undergraduate student staff.
2. Assists with the marketing, recruitment, and selection process of Residential Advisors.
3. Assists with the Resident Advisor training program.
4. Assists with the Staff Evaluation program.
5. Ats as a liaison to other campus departments for the Office of Residential Life.
6. Represents the Office of Residential Life and the Division of Student Affairs on University Committees and participate fully in professional activities.
D. Departmental Communication and Decision-Making:
1. Plans and holds weekly community staff meetings.
2. Serves on and chairs Residential Life committees as assigned. by the Director of Residential Life.
3. Provides input to decisions regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
4. Keeps professional staff informed about critical issues and concerns in the area.
5. Establishes continuous communication with other Residential Life staff and University staff (Public Safety, Student Life, Dining Services, etc.).
E. Administration:
1. Coordinates the administrative functions in the area, including preparation of weekly reports, key inventories, and timely completion of forms and correspondence.
2. Assists with check-in, check-out of all residents and coordinates/cooperates on all tasks related to assignment of rooms.
3. Assesses the success of Residential Life programs and research/benchmark for the Office.
Completes other projects as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

10. Must be able to live on-campus and be available for on-call responsibilities.
Required Certifications/Licensures:
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Major (if required:
Required Experience: 1. Bachelor’s degree and minimum four (4) years’ experience working in higher education,
-OR-
Master’s degree and minimum two (2) years’ experience working in higher education.
2. Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
3. Prior experience serving on an on-call rotation and/or crisis response rotation.
