Primary Purpose:

Responsible for assistance in development and coordination of the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) program.

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Assists in developing and supervising the activities, and evaluates the performance, of the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) program.
2. In coordination with the Program Director and legal team, secures affiliation agreements with training sites including compliance with medical liability, HRSA, HIPPA etc. regulations.
3. Supports the Program Director in the coordination, support, and instruction of the CRNA curriculum.
4. Provides critical liaison with appropriate offices, department and external agencies involved in nursing education.
5. Assists the Program Director with budget preparation and management.
6. Composes, edits, reviews and approves learning objectives and test items.
7. Reviews educational literature and learning media to keep abreast of new teaching/learning strategies.
8. Counsels students with academic and/or personal problems, referring to appropriate personnel or agencies as necessary and in a timely manner.
9. Teaches undergraduate or graduate course(s) in the classroom as assigned.
10. Selects teaching and evaluation strategies appropriate to the students and setting.
11. Creates a climate that is conducive to learning.
12. Provides and maintains a reliable schedule of office hours for student advising, tutoring, remediation and consultation.
13. Displays behavior consistent with professional ethics.
14. May manage subordinates in the classroom or laboratory.
15. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the university policies and applicable laws.
16. Serves on department committees as necessary, as well as appropriate college and university committees.
17. Participates in state and/or local community service that is a recognized form of career development.
18. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements: Appointment to the rank of professor requires a record of distinguished scholarship and outstanding teaching ability, evidenced by recognized professional productivity in the field(s) of specialization.

Appointment to the rank of associate professor normally requires a record of substantial success in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Appointment to the rank of assistant professor requires completion of professional training, which in most disciplines will be a terminal degree (usually the earned doctorate), and the clear promise of a successful career in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and/or coordination of people and resources.
2. Personnel and Human Resources - Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and personnel information systems.
3. Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of user satisfaction.
4. English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
5. Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
6. Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements:
1. Near Vision - Must be able to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
2. Speech Recognition - Must be able to identify and understand the speech of another person.
3. Speech Clarity - Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand you.
4. Travel - Must be able to travel on a daily and/or overnight basis.
5. May be required to work nights or weekends.
6. May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.

Required Certifications/Licensures: 1. Have or be eligible for State of Florida RN licensure.
2. National Certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).

Required Education: Doctoral Degree

Major (if required: 

Required Experience: Two (2) to three (3) years of teaching/academic or related experience and/or training, including research.

Preferred Qualifications: 

D.N.P., Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Nursing or closely related field.
