Primary Purpose:

As a member of the College’s leadership team, assists the Dean in improving key program matrices such as program evaluations, accreditation, and student retention. Responsible for leading the planning, development and implementation of accreditation, assessment and student retention activities for the Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy. Teaching and service are components of this position.

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating.

2. Develops and promotes a dynamic culture of program and student evaluation.

3. Empowers employees to incorporate assessment principles and practices into their work to achieve the mission and goals of the College.

4. Directs efforts to continuously improve both educational outcomes and programmatic structures and processes; directs ongoing programmatic and curricular assessment and develops the assessment plan.

5. Oversees Academic Support Services and works with management to ensure timely responses to academic issues, student retention and student success.

6. Prepares reports on the outcomes of the assessment and evaluation of programs and provides leadership and assistance to integrate results from various data sources to support programmatic change.

7. Develops various initiatives related to program development, innovative program delivery, and enrollment growth.

8. Develops and implements plans to increase student engagement, retention, and success.

9. Conducts data analysis and compiles informational material for the review and approval of senior management.

10. Interprets and explains University and college policies and procedures.

11. Collaborates with faculty and administrators to advance assessment practices.

12. Takes a leading role in the processes to prepare for and maintain accreditation and program quality.

13. Ensures compliance with accreditation standards, report writing (ACPE, SACS, ARC), and chairing self-studies, as well as with university policies and procedures, county, state, and federal regulations, and professional association guidelines.

14. Reviews AACP survey data, NAPLEX and MPJE pass rate data, and evaluates collected assessment data.

15. Oversees computer-based testing program (ExamSoft).

16. Develops, directs, implements, and assesses student retention programs, initiatives, and services designed to increase the persistence, academic goal completion, and graduation rates of students.

17. Oversees and/or/manages assigned faculty and staff to support student retention, academic goal completion and graduation rates of Doctor of Pharmacy students.

18. Strategically, monitors and provides regular reporting of student persistence and retention rates.

19. Ensures that College policies appropriately support the retention, persistence, and graduation of all students.

20. Participates in college and university committee activities as assigned.

21. Participates/assists with special projects as required.

22. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Job Requirements: 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Thorough knowledge of assessment theory and practice and experience with external accreditation processes.
2. Administration and Management - General knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, leadership technique, and/or coordination of people and resources.
3. Personnel and Human Resources - General knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, and training.

4. English Language - Thorough knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
5. Education and Training - Thorough knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

Required Certifications/Licensures: 

Required Education: Doctoral or Terminal Degree

Major (if required: Pharm.D.

Required Experience: 1. Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in a pharmacy faculty position, with at least five (5) years in an administrative role.

2. Prior experience in assessment in higher education or pharmacy academia.

Associate Professor:
• Possess a doctoral or terminal degree.
• Demonstrate continued professional growth and success in full-time university teaching, research/scholarship, and service at the rank of Assistant Professor. In unusual cases, an outstanding record in only one of these activities and an adequate record in the others may be considered sufficient.
• Demonstrate significant scholarly or scholarship/research contributions to the University, higher education, or the candidate's academic area(s) of specialization that have received peer recognition.
• Possess 4 years of full-time university faculty experience at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Professor:
• Possess a Doctoral or terminal degree. •
• Demonstrate continuing professional growth'* and success in full-time university teaching, scholarship, and service.
• Must have achieved distinction through significant scholarship or scholarship/research contributions to the University, higher education, or the candidate's academic area(s) of specialization that have received substantial peer recognition.
• Through their professional accomplishments, demonstrate exemplary service to NSU and the profession at the national level.
• Possess a minimum of 5 years of full-time university experience at the rank of Associate Professor.
