Primary Purpose:

Plans, coordinates, and executes university-wide events and activities, ensuring successful implementation and student engagement. Serves as a liaison with university committees to foster collaboration and enhance affinity among students, faculty, and staff.

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating, all in accordance with university policies and procedures.

2. Oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of special events, including Shark Preview, Orientation, Community Fest, and major campus events such as NSU's Got Talent. Provides strategic direction, supervision, and logistical support to ensure successful event implementation.

3. Engages students beyond traditional programming by overseeing the Campus Engagement initiative, fostering supplemental learning opportunities and social experiences that enhance student involvement and development.

Collaborates with department and university partners to develop and implement new student orientation and commuter engagement programs, enhancing the overall student experience.

4. Supports recruitment and retention efforts for first-year students through outreach activities, tailored support, and strategic initiatives that promote student success and ongoing engagement throughout their academic journey.

5. Supports recruitment efforts by participating in campus events, leading informational sessions, and engaging with prospective students to showcase the university’s programs, culture, and opportunities.

6. Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of Campus Life and Student Engagement programs and initiatives to ensure continuous improvement and impact.

7. Leads the development, expansion, and assessment of student clubs and organizations to enhance student involvement and campus engagement.

8. Ensures adherence to risk management procedures and collaborates with upper management to address organizational conduct issues.

9. Works closely with internal and external stakeholders to oversee university-wide events initiated by various departments.

10. Provides senior staff coverage and supervises Campus Life facilities, overseeing student activities during evenings, weekends, and special events.

11. Coordinates student and staff involvement in key relationship-building events to strengthen connections and foster community engagement.

12. Collaborates with NSU's Office of Special Events on university-wide initiatives to ensure seamless planning and execution.

13. Collaborates with other divisional offices to encourage participation and engagement in events coordinated by the office.

14. Acts as an active member of the university’s CARE (Campus Assistance, Resources, and Engagement) team, working alongside faculty, staff, and administration to provide support for students requiring academic, emotional, or personal assistance.

15. Oversees major student events on campus, including the Student Events and Activities (SEA) Board, ensuring successful planning and execution.

16. Responsible for advisement, assessment, and expansion of the NSU Fraternity and Sorority Life community.

17. Advises, assesses and promotes the growth of NSU's Fraternity and Sorority Life community.

18. Develops, implements, and evaluates various educational training, accountability and recognition programs in support of Fraternity and Sorority Life leadership and organizational needs; develops and manages the FSL budget; and reviews policies related to Fraternity and Sorority Life.

19. Ensures the timely creation and distribution of high-quality promotional materials.

20. Manages funds and budgets to support the office's operations and ensure financial efficiency.

21. Completes other projects as assigned.

22. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Personnel and Human Resources – Advanced knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, and supervision.
2. Customer and Personal Service - Thorough knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
3. Administration and Management - Thorough knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, leadership techniques, and/or coordination of people and resources.
4. English Language - Thorough knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
5. Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
6. Communications and Media - General knowledge of media production, visual, verbal, and interactive communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.
8. In-depth knowledge of university policies and procedures.

Required Certifications/Licensures: Driver’s License

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Major (if required: 

Required Experience: 1. Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of closely related experience.

2. Prior supervisory experience.

OR

1. Master's degree and a minimum of six (6) years of closely related experience.

2. Prior supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. Previous experience in large-scale event planning and program development.

2. Previous experience in designing and facilitating student leadership and development
programs.
