Primary Purpose:
Independently manages a large research program, including budget and programming integrity.
Job Category: Exempt

Essential Job Functions:
1. Directs departments within the programming area to include education and research.
2. Designs and develops major program components, develops and maintains curricula, develops research, leads professional conferences and provides public relations support.
3. Develops ideas and options for faculty review and decision, and develops and implements instruction and research programs that reflect faculty interests.
4. Evaluates effectiveness of curriculum and effectiveness of program in meeting goals.
5. May teach seminars and workshops and participate with faculty on research.
6. Supervises program staff. Recommends or initiates personnel actions and administers policies for the program(s).
7. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Job Requirements:
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge
1. Research Program Development: Understanding of research methodologies, program lifecycle, and funding mechanisms (e.g., federal grants, private foundations).
2. Regulatory & Compliance Standards: Knowledge of IRB, IACUC, data privacy (e.g., HIPAA), and other research governance.
Skills
1. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication for reports, proposals, and presentations to stakeholders.
2. Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to build and maintain relationships with funders, collaborators, and institutional leadership.
3. Data Analysis & Interpretation: Ability to understand and oversee quantitative and qualitative research data for reporting and strategic use.

2. Adaptability: Able to pivot strategy in response to emerging trends, funding changes, or institutional needs.

Physical Requirements and Working environment:
1. Near Vision - Must be able to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
2. Speech Clarity - Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand you.
3. Speech Recognition - Must be able to identify and understand the speech of another person.
4. May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
5. May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils, and computer keyboards.
Required Certifications/Licensures:
Required Education: Master's Degree
Major (if required:
Required Experience: Five (5) years of experience in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and three (3) years of experience.
