Primary Purpose:
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting Pharmacist (s) perform daily tasks to serve customers, all in compliance with pharmacy practice standards and the laws of the State of Florida. Duties include, but are not limited to, filling and labeling prescriptions, interacting with customers to answer questions or give them their prescriptions, and contacting customers to notify them when prescriptions are ready.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Under the direct supervisor of appointed licensed Pharmacist (s), compounds and dispenses medical prescriptions to ensure prescriptions are prepared and filled accurately; assists with the technical aspects of the pharmacy to include gathering information from patients, data entry, counting or measuring dosages, labeling prescriptions, assisting with the preparation of pharmaceutical compounding.
2. Supports pharmacological services by assembling, stocking, and distributing medications.
3. Organizes and orders inventory and supplies to ensure effective use of resources.
4. Verifies stock and enters data into the computer to maintain inventory records to ensure accurate receipt of orders placed.
5. Assists patients with purchases of over-the-counter medications and sundries to ensure customer service and patient satisfaction. Responds to requests of patients and healthcare providers, answering their questions and referring various inquiries to the Pharmacist.
6. May process prescriptions electronically and ensures information is accurate and complete.
7. Complies with rules, regulations, and procedures to help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy, such as by sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
8. Completes other projects as assigned.
9. Performs other duties as required.
NOTE: IT IS REQUIRED THAT A LICENSED PHARMACIST SUPERVISE EACH OF THESE DUTIES AND GIVES APPROVAL OF EACH TASK PRIOR TO HAVING THE MEDICATIONS DISPENSED TO THE PATIENT OR PATIENTS' AGENT.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
1. Ability to work in an outpatient or psychiatric hospital environment in the presence of a patient population.

3. Speech Clarity - Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand you.
4. Near Vision - Must be able to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
5. Travel - Must be able to travel on a daily and/or overnight basis.
6. May be required to work nights or weekends.
7. May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
8. May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils, and computer keyboards.
Required Certifications/Licensures: Must be registered with the Florida Board of Pharmacy.
Required Education: High School Diploma
Major (if required:
Required Experience: Level I
1. Completion of a Florida Board Pharmacy Technician Program.
2. Up to one (1) year of general work experience.
Level II
1. Completion of a Florida Board Pharmacy Technician Program.
2. One (1) to two (2) years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
Level III
1. Completion of a Florida Board Pharmacy Technician Program.
2. Certified Pharmacy Technician.
3. Minimum three (3) years’ working experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a hospital.
