Primary Purpose:

Supports clinical and translational research by managing the REDCap Research instance. Manages research databases and provides REDCap technical support to healthcare researchers and staff.

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Provides comprehensive support to REDCap users, including account creation and management, approving database change requests, and addressing user inquiries while promoting best data practices. Works with the Office of Clinical Trials to enable researchers across NSU to utilize the platform for IRB approved research projects.

2. Maintains REDCap databases and projects used for clinical studies and University initiatives. Monitors system performance and coordinate upgrades with IT. Manages software maintenance issues with vendors and maintains an accurate log of changes made to the system. Plans and implements systems maintenance tasks, such as software configuration, software patching, and upgrades. Implements changes into production environments to support change management and release scheduling.

3. Maintains logs related to applications and systems functions, as well as maintenance and repair records. Leads and coordinates efforts during production outages. Works with other internal teams on root cause analysis and resolution. Acts as a contact for REDCap maintenance issues. Oversees and assists with timely REDCap upgrades and collaborates with technical experts to test upgrades, ensuring the smooth operation of the system.

4. Ensures compliance with institutional and governmental data governance policies such as HIPAA. Keeps up-to-date on all pertinent federal, state regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified to ensure compliance with governmental and institutional data governance policies. Contributes to the development and review of policy, procedure, and security documents and ensures compliance with University and Office of Clinical Trials policies and procedures.

5. Provides technical support to end users. Assists with the design and maintenance of REDCap projects for clinical studies and quality improvement initiatives as needed. Serves as a valuable liaison between end users and technical staff, providing translation and assistance when needed. Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves software or other system problems. Provides technical assistance and advice to assist the design of REDCap projects.

6. Participates in all aspects of improving the team, including education/training of other team members and contributing to process/communication improvement initiatives. Collaborates with clinical, research and IT teams to gather requirements and optimize workflows.

7. Fosters collaboration and engagement by participating in the REDCap Consortium. Researches new technologies by attending seminars, reading trade articles, or taking classes, and implements or recommends the implementation of new technologies

8. Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization, NSU Health, and the Office of Clinical Trials.

9. Completes special projects as assigned.

10. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements: Availability for REDCap emergencies 24 hours/day and 7 days/week.

7. Possesses in depth knowledge of human subjects research regulatory requirements.

Required Certifications/Licensures: 

Required Education: Bachelors degree

Major (if required: 

Required Experience: 1. Minimum four (4) years of REDCap administration experience in a healthcare or academic setting.
2. Minimum five (5) years’ work experience related to application administration.

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. Master’s Degree
2. Lean Six Sigma Training
3. Certified Research Professional.
4. Familiarity with IRB processes and clinical trial data standards
