Essential Job Functions: 1. Serves as the company’s member services and pre-sales engineering lead.

2. Works in concert with the CBDO’s providing technical network engineering support to members and prospective members to advise on connecting to FLR, adding FLR services, and leveraging the FLR network to advance higher education and research.

3. Provides program management support to the FLR NOC and FLR Operations.

4. Establishes and maintains relationships with researchers and research support organizations at FLR member institutions.

5. Promotes use of the FLR network enabling education, research, and economic development, and provides technical assistance to facilitate research activity at FLR member organizations.

6. Serves as liaison to the FLR Research Committee and the SSERCA Subcommittee and provides technical support for member institutions’ grant activities.

7. Completes special projects as assigned.

8. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Marginal Job Functions: Serves on various Regional and National Research and Education Network Services Committees/Working Groups as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Strong knowledge of how to support and foster education and research activities of faculty and staff of FLR member institutions.
2. Strong working knowledge of research computing, technical planning and budgeting.
3. Strong knowledge of network principals, network design and architecture, best practices and service provider to enterprise interconnection.
4. Strong working knowledge of research computing, technical planning and budgeting.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
Speech Recognition - Must be able to identify and understand the speech of another person.

Near Vision - Must be able to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
Travel - Must be able to travel on a daily and/or overnight basis.
May be required to work nights or weekends.
May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils, and computer keyboards.

Required Certifications/Licensures:  
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Major (if required):  
Required Experience: 1. Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight (8) years of experience supporting researchers and research activities at institutions of higher education and other research-focused enterprises.

2. Minimum of eight years of staff experience in providing research-focused technical support in Research and Education (REN) environment like FLR.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Experience in supporting research computing activities, particularly as it relates to networking services.
2. A combination of statewide, regional or national network services experience.
3. Experience in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships.
4. Earned MBA or BA/BS in Engineering.
