Primary Purpose:

Develops and implements impactful community service and civic engagement opportunities for students across NSU’s main and regional campuses; designs and execute marketing campaigns to promote and grow Student Leadership & Global Engagement (SLGE) initiatives.

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Identifies, promotes, and recruits students for community service and engagement opportunities throughout Florida and beyond, expanding participation and program impact.

2. Develops and manages a communication strategy and cultivate relationships with community partners to support student engagement through events such as the volunteer fair, service days, and ongoing service opportunities.

3. Oversees the Sharks and Service Program, managing logistics, travel, risk management, budget development and monitoring, site selection, debriefing, program assessment, and the selection of student leaders, including defining roles and responsibilities for service trips.

4. Leads graduate assistants in executing key service programs and supporting service and office initiatives; oversee student staff operations, including scheduling, training, staff meetings, and engagement activities.

5. Manages and supports the Experiential Education and Learning Community Engagement Pillar, advising participants on involvement and completion, developing best practices, and providing tracking and support data to the Office of Experiential Education and Learning.

6. Oversees the recruitment of staff and external personnel supported by grant-funded programs such as Campus Compact, VISTA, and similar initiatives.

7. Ensures accurate tracking, reporting, and assessment of office initiatives; collaborates with the Office of Institutional and Community Engagement to monitor community engagement activities.

8. Develop and strengthen university-wide partnerships to enhance service opportunities and student engagement.

9. Serves as a resource and referral point for student clubs and organizations seeking community service opportunities; supports program development in the areas of leadership and student development.

10. Completes special project as assigned.

11. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements: 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of current theories and best practices as it relates to college student development and community engagement.
2. Knowledge of student affairs and student activities programs.
3. Administration and Management - General knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, and/or coordination of people and resources.
4. Customer and Personal Service - Thorough knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of user satisfaction.
5. English Language - Thorough knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
6. Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Required Certifications/Licensures: 

Required Education: Bachelor's degree

Major (if required: 

Required Experience: 1. Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four (4) years of closely related experience.
2. Experience in planning and implementing community service programs.

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. Previous experience in designing and facilitating student leadership development programs.

2. Previous experience in higher education.

3. Prior experience in marketing programs and services.

4. Previous experience supervising student employees and/or student leaders.
