Primary Purpose:

Provides general assistance in implementing an instructional program that is attentive to individual students' academic, social and emotional needs. (12-month position).

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Responds to parent contacts regarding instructional concerns, referring parents to the teacher, guidance counselor, a team leader, or curriculum coordinator, if appropriate. Handles student discipline referrals and parent concerns as determined by the Director.

2. Assigns coverage for absent teachers, teacher assistants and aides.

3. Oversees the monitoring of student academic and social progress, particularly of the Bridges and TLC programs, to ensure that individual student needs are identified and implementations provided in a developmentally appropriate manner. Oversees the CSST process for all LS students. Works collaboratively with the guidance team and serves as their immediate supervisor.

4. Oversees all aspects of the administration of the MAP Growth and MAP Fluency Assessments.

5. Assists with developing the master Lower School calendar and helps plan/supervise special grade level events as well as UFO initiated events.

6. Assists Director, as needed, in coordinating the development, articulation and implementation of all Lower School curricula.

7. Assists the Director in the monitoring of teacher and Team Leader responsibilities, including: material and supply orders, computer software and hardware needs, textbook orders, curriculum revision, testing materials and coordination, and meeting agendas etc.

8. Coordinates and assists faculty in the development of classroom pedagogy and meeting student needs by providing resource services, standardized test diagnoses, recommending instructional strategies, for special discipline needs as related to classroom, bus, playground, field trips, etc.

9. Serves as registrar for the Lower School by managing the enrollment of students in classes and handling all record requests for current students.

10. Cultivates relationships and serves as the liaison between the Lower School and other NSU departments such as speech/language, OT, ophthalmology and psychological services; arranges student screenings in the fall.

11. Participates in interviews with prospective faculty and staff members.

12. Provides administrative support at school functions, in coordination with other administrative staff through attendance and by assuming administrative responsibilities.

13. Assist the Director in the implementation and monitoring/tracking of all Vertical Integration and collaborative efforts with all University School divisions and NSU sites.

14. Assists Director with supervision of teacher classroom performance and curricula implementation in assigned grade levels.

15. Supervises and coordinates carpool duties.

16. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Physical Requirements:

5. Travel - Must be able to travel on a daily and/or overnight basis.

7. May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils, mobile devices, and computer keyboards.

Required Certifications/Licensures: 

Required Education: Master's Degree

Major (if required: 

Required Experience: 1. Three (3) years successful supervisory experience.

2. Five (5) years teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Doctoral Degree
