Primary Purpose:

Performs daily clinic functions as it relates to the Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine's Clinic in assisting physicians/nurse practitioners/residents in the examination and treatment of patients.

 

Job Category: Non-Exempt

Hiring Range:  Commensurate with experience

Pay Basis:  Hourly

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Performs daily clinic functions such as interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, reconciling medications, educating patients and documenting data and assessments in-patients' records to ensure quality patient care. Documents data and assessments in the patient record.
2. Assists the providers in all aspects of the consultation, treatment, procedures, and follow-up care. Executes medical regimens and nursing interventions as appropriate for the setting and their competency.
3. Performs phlebotomy, specimen collections, and IV under the direction of the attending clinician to ensure quality of patient care.
4. Maintains patient rooms by making sure rooms are clean, fully stocked and equipment is operational to ensure cleanliness and efficient patient's visits.
5. Provides patients with basic health counseling, instructions and information regarding examination procedures to ensure patient education.
6. Maintains medical supplies, inventory, and disposal.
7. Performs research activities according to research protocol and ensures adherence to good clinical practice and research regulations
8. Ensures regulatory compliance with OSHA guidelines and HIPAA medical privacy guidelines
9. Triage calls for urgent appointments, referrals for patient consults and testing, insurance pre-certification and documentation.
10. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements: 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
2.Computer literate, familiar with electronic medical records.
3. Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine treatment to patients.
4. Knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures that are applicable to work performed.
5. Ability to work in fast paced environment.
6. Ability to understand and follow verbal or written instructions.
7. Ability to maintain confidential information.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

1. Ability to communicate effectively with others.
2. Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels.
3. May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
4. May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment / supplies, to include but not limited to syringes, pens, pencils and computer keyboards.

Required Certifications/Licensures: 

Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Major (if required: 

Required Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of current relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. CPR Certification.

2. Minimum of 6 months performing phlebotomy.

3. Phlebotomy Certification.
