Primary Purpose:

The Content Strategy and Engagement Coordinator focuses on the scheduling, production management, distribution, and tracking of content across the Division of Public Relations, Marketing, and Creative Services and works under the direct supervision of the Director of Public Relations and Marketing Communications. This position collaborates with the University public relations, creative and digital communications, Web team, and advertising teams and serves in a strategic role for content alignment and engagement with key University audiences including faculty and staff, undergraduate and graduate students, prospective students, prospective partners and donors, social influencers, opinion leaders, and the general public.

This position also helps to coordinate the University’s social media presence to increase NSU’s reputation and visibility by demonstrating the distinctive NSU culture, contributions, initiatives, and experiences. This individual contributes to the development and ongoing analysis of a strategic content management framework that engages key stakeholders, highlights the University’s impact on the communities it serves, and aligns with the University’s mission.

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Contributes to the essential alignment of content opportunities with the strategic priorities of the University.
2. Supports the Director in capturing strategic priorities in a process that maps content development and delivery over time on a master editorial calendar and weekly report to the Vice President.
3. Oversees and manages the flow of all content through various university channels including owned, social/shared, earned and paid channels. Content may include articles, features, newsletters, social media posts, videos, campus billboards, Web pages, social media posts, enewsletters, and other assets.
4. Works with the entire public relations and marketing communications team to ensure priority content production is on schedule and informs Director of progress or challenges.
5. Strategically coordinates and supports the University's presence on organic and paid social media channels, including:
a. Helps to identify, develop, manage, produce, and evaluate strategic organic and reputation-building social media plans, based on knowledge of University objectives, brand strategies, market characteristics, and cost factors.
b. Creates content calendars and posting relevant content, including strong, strategic use of compelling social messages, channel-specific storytelling, and effective use of photography, video, and animations.
c. Continuous monitoring of social activities, identifying and mitigating potential concerns or issues, rumors and/or misinformation.
d. Assists in crisis communications by disseminating accurate and timely information via social channels, including after hours when necessary.
6. Envisions and manages a content delivery process and strategy that is consistently executed to include:
a. Tags and posts of approved content on NSU News Center and other locations as appropriate.
b. Shares approved content with appropriate college/staff websites for additional posting opportunities.
c. Promotes approved content and reflecting overall university themes over NSU social channels and coordinating with other university social media sources to magnify exposure;
d. Curates content and helps produce and distribute Wavelengths as scheduled.
e. Controls and distributes mass email communication of priority content.
f. Connects approved content with Alumni and Development, Donor Relations and other university colleges and divisions.
g. Works with student-focused communicators to help connect with university content and harvest student content to reflect at a university level.
h. Manages and posts approved content on President’s LI site.
i. Responsible for content engagement with other audiences as assigned.
7. Completes special projects as assigned.
8. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements: 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Administration and Management – Working knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and/or coordination of people and resources.

8. Thorough knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and more.
9. Thorough knowledge of trends, best practices, and technology in social media, digital engagement, and content creation and marketing.
10. Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
11. Advanced knowledge of standard Adobe Suite.

Required Certifications/Licensures: 

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Major (if required: Social/Digital Media, Public Relations/Journalism, Marketing/Advertising, Communications, or related field

Required Experience: 1. Five (5) or more years of experience developing, producing and managing successful social media advertising/marketing campaigns, using extensive knowledge of social media channels and digital marketing strategy.
2. Demonstrated experience presenting and “making the case” for social media strategies, initiatives and results to clients and senior leadership.
3. Demonstrated experience with new technologies, best practices, and trends in social media storytelling.
4. Experience with Hootsuite, Sprout Social, and building ad campaigns within a fixed budget.
5. Demonstrated social media portfolio of creative assets including successful posts, graphics, video storytelling, and success measurement.
6. Experience with performance analytics for measuring reach and impact of organic social channels in producing enhanced visibility, reputation/perceived prestige and quantity and quality of target audience engagement.
7. Experience shooting/editing/using “grassroots” photos, videos and animations as part of organic social content as appropriate
8. Some experience with social media advertising.
9. Experience in creating social media graphics, videos, infographics, and animations using software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere, After Effects, or Canva to increase engagement.
