Primary Purpose:

Responsible for the management of student records and curriculum data in the Banner and Degree Works systems and resolves data integrity issues.

 

Job Category: Non-Exempt

Hiring Range:  $21.50 per hour/$41,925.00 annually

Pay Basis:  Hourly

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Reviews and enters student and course data into the Banner and Degree Works software systems to change, update and maintain student records.
2. Coordinates with colleges to ensure course offerings and curriculum rules are update to date term by term and that Degree Works data is accurate for final student degree approvals.
3. Identifies and corrects changes to academic records that impact current and past registrations and fee assessments.
4. Acts as a subject matter expert for assigned system(s).
5. May act as project leader for assigned project(s).
6. Tests programs or databases, corrects errors, and makes necessary modifications.
7. Helps programmers and systems analysts test and debug new programs.
8. Oversees the daily performance of assigned computer system(s).
9. Enters commands and observes system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors.
10. Operates spreadsheet programs and other types of software to load and manipulate data and to produce reports.
11. Retrieves, separates and sorts program output as needed, and sends data to specified users.
12. Generates reports to audit data quality, ensure accuracy and system integrity, and increase productivity.
13. Assists computer users encountering problems.
14. Answers user inquiries regarding computer software/hardware operations or systems complications to resolve problems.
15. Assists with daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities.
16. Consults with departments/users to develop action plans; researches and reads technical materials, confers with users, or conducts diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support.
17. Refers major hardware or software problems or defective products to internal departments or technicians for service.
18. Assists in developing training materials and procedures, and trains users in the proper use of software/applications, as well as policies and procedures.
19. Maintains data integrity and confidentiality.
20. Completes special projects as assigned.
21. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Computers and Electronics - Working knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications, programming, and/or systems configuration.
2. Customer and Personal Service - Working knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of user satisfaction.

3. English Language - Working knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
4. Clerical - Working knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
5. General knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

Required Certifications/Licensures: 

Required Education: Associate's Degree

Major (if required: 

Required Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of related experience, preferably with software systems.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience with Banner software system.
