Primary Purpose:

Contributes to undergraduate student engagement and retention efforts by assisting in the development, organization, and coordination of logistical aspects of various university-wide events, while collaborating with campus partners, students, faculty, and staff.

Hiring Range:  $48,950

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Provides support in the planning and execution of the University’s Shark Preview, Convocation, Orientation and Campus Life events.

2. Coordinates catering and facility logistics to include food ordering and setup, room reservations and audiovisual setup.

3. Manages room and event requests for student organizations while working with facilities management and OIIT.

4. Fosters and develops a culture of increased student participation in clubs and organizations.

5. Develops schedule of events and other programming materials.

6. Oversees the student operations team for execution of student events.

7. Tracks and maintains records of student attendance during Shark Preview, Convocation, and Orientation.

8. Oversees the use and training of student organizational management software system (Engage).

9. Assists with evaluation and assessment efforts related to Shark Preview, Convocation, Orientation and other departmental initiatives; utilizes results for ongoing improvement.

10. Coordinates post program strategic communication plan for Shark Preview attendees.

11. Monitors and maintains departmental and/or program websites.

Develops and produces marketing materials promoting student events.

12. Assists in managing operations to ensure continuous improvement of student services that increase engagement and retention.

13. Acts as liaison between students, faculty, and college and university departments.


14. Assists in the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of student employees, graduate assistants, and/or volunteers.


15. Provides feedback and recommendations to management regarding recruiting strategies, customer service, communications, and/or recruitment programs.


16. Completes special projects as assigned.


17. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements: 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Customer and Personal Service - General knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
2. English Language - General knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
3. Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
1. Speech Recognition - Must be able to identify and understand the speech of another person.

4. May be required to work nights or weekends.
Travel - Must be able to travel on a daily and/or overnight basis.

6. May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils, mobile devices, and computer keyboards.

Required Certifications/Licensures: Driver's License

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Major (if required: 

Required Experience: 1. Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two (2) years of closely related experience.

2. Experience in large scale event planning and program development.

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. Previous experience in higher education.
2. Previous experience supervising student employees and/or student leaders.
