Primary Purpose:
Provides leadership, supervision, planning and oversight for third and fourth year curriculum. Participates in the planning and continuous improvement of the College of Allopathic Medicine's medical education program, which emphasizes vertical integration of the foundational and clinical sciences. Participates in LCME accreditation and engages in innovative scholarship and research to advance medical education and/or medical knowledge.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Provides leadership, supervision, and guidance to the Core clerkship and Selective/Elective directors in their capacity as educators, ensuring compliance with curricular, accreditation, and institutional requirements.
2. Provides supervision, guidance, and faculty development for M3/M4 (clerkship phase) rotation directors and core faculty regarding clerkship assessments, grade reports, letters of recommendation for students and all aspects of clerkship education.
3. Collaborates with the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development in ensuring that all faculty who supervise students receive timely and appropriate appointments, onboarding, and faculty development.
4. Collaborates with the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development, provides, and centrally monitors, a program to prepare residents and non-faculty instructors on the medical education program objectives and requirements, and on their roles in teaching and assessment of medical students.
5. Collaborates with the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development in providing faculty development for clinical faculty who supervise NSU MD students in the clerkship phase of the curriculum (M3/M4).
6. Conducts annual, and as-needed, site visits to all NSU MD clinical rotation sites in collaboration with college senior leadership.
7. Regularly monitors learning environment and adequacy of clinical experience at all clinical sites.
8. Collaborates with the Assistant Dean for Curricular Affairs, leads and oversees the development and implementation of the student performance evaluation system in the clinical rotations and ensure fairness in grade assignment.
9. Coordinates with medical education leadership (e.g., Assistant Dean for Pre-Clerkship Curriculum, Assistant Dean for Curricular Affairs) continuously reviews and improves the clerkship curriculum management and operations ensuring vertical integration with the foundational sciences, alignment of educational activities with educational objectives and corresponding assessment measures and oversees the completion of an accurate and regularly updated curricular map.
10. Provides guidance and direction to clerkship directors in the process of developing and analyzing clerkship assessment data for use in MSPEs.
11. Develops and implements required and elective M4 courses for students.
12. Develops and implements processes and policy related to M4 course selection, assessment, and residency application.
13. Shares information with students regarding M4 curricular requirements.
14. Collaborates with the Chair of Clinical Sciences Department, division chair, and college senior administration to ensure growth and sustainability of student M4 clinical opportunities.
15. Continuously reviews and improves the M3 and M4 curriculum using national best practices as a model.
16. Collaborates with the Office of Admissions and Student Affairs to identify and recruit specialty-specific clinical advisors as part of the career advising system.
17. Collaborates and coordinates with the Office of Admissions and Student Affairs in designing programs and events geared towards the career development of medical students (M1-M4) and preparation to the transition to residency.
18. Collaborates and coordinates with the Office of Admissions and Student Affairs to meet and address student needs during Match and SOAP week.
19. Collaborates with NSU MD committees and curricular leadership in conducting periodic comprehensive reviews of the curriculum utilizing national benchmarks to measure student achievement.
20. Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating.
21. Plans, evaluates, and revises curricula, course/block content, course/block materials, and methods of instruction.
22. Prepares course/block materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, test questions, and handouts.
23. Prepares materials for laboratory activities and course/block materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
24. Compiles bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
25. Initiates, facilitates, and moderates PBL and TBL discussions.
26. Assists students who need extra help with their coursework outside of class.
27. Maintains student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
28. Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory and clinic work, assignments, and papers.
29. Compiles, administers, and grades examinations, or assigns this work to others.
30. Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
31. Advises students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues.
32. Assesses medical student needs using a variety of methods.
33. Collaborates with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
34. Serves on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
35. Participates in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities.
36. Participates in campus and community events, such as giving presentations to the public.
37. Conducts research in a particular field of knowledge and publishes findings in professional journals, books, or electronic media.
38. Reviews papers for publication in journals.
39. Supervises undergraduate or graduate teaching, internship, and research work.
40. Mentors students and junior faculty members.
41. Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.

Required Certifications/Licensures:
Required Education: Terminal Degree (Highest degree in field of study)
Major (if required: M.D. or D.O.
Required Experience: 1. Experience as a clerkship core faculty in an LCME accredited medical school.
2. College-level teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Leadership experience in the clerkship phase of the curriculum at an LCME accredited medical school (e.g., Assistant Clerkship Director, Clerkship Director).
2. Three (3) years of evidence of excellence in teaching in a health care setting.
