Primary Purpose:

Develops and promotes a competitive women's lacrosse team by recruiting student-athletes to Nova Southeastern University.

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Oversees the comprehensive development of student-athletes.
2. Develops and implements a coaching philosophy aligned with the University and the Athletics department’s mission.
3. Develops and manages functional team training sessions.
4. Creates and executes individualized training sessions tailored to the specific needs of each player.
5. Conducts player meetings to review individual performance, offer constructive feedback, and set goals for improvement.
6. Analyzes and breaks down game video performance.
7. Identifies and recruits academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
8. Creates a recruitment strategy that aligns with university admissions and athletic department policies.
9. Oversees and conducts official visits for prospective student-athletes.
10. Attends national and international events to evaluate and establish contact with potential student-athletes and represent the University.
11. Supervises and mentor’s assistant coaches, providing guidance and support for their professional development.
12. Develops, organizes, and manages a comprehensive team schedule and calendar.
13. Oversees team budgets and expenses for team travel, supplies/equipment, and scholarships.
14. Coordinates travel arrangements for the team, overseeing practice times for road games and ensuring adherence to scheduling guidelines.
15. Maintains equipment inventory, following NSU procedures for ordering supplies and managing athletic program funds.
16. Collaborates with the sport oversight/administrator to establish long and short-term team objectives.
17. Collaborates with sports medicine and strength and conditioning staff to optimize player health and performance.
18. Develops and implements a comprehensive scouting system for upcoming opponents.
19. Maintains open and regular communication with the Associate AD for Academics and Student Development.
20. Monitors and mentor’s student-athletes’ academic progress.
21. Enforces an academic study hall for student-athletes throughout the season.
22. Completes special projects as assigned.
23. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements: 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:

1. Administration and Management - Knowledge of management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
2. English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language.
3. NCAA Rules and Regulations – Strong working knowledge and understanding of all NCAA rules and regulations regarding compliance issues.
4. Sport Experience – Extensive knowledge of individual and team skills with the ability to teach these skills.

1. Recruiting – The ability to evaluate and compare athletic talent for potential growth and development of student-athletes. Maintain correspondence with a large number of prospects: e-mail, letters, and phone.
2. Academic Monitoring – The ability to establish and monitor an academic system that ensures academic success for the student-athlete.
3. Budget Management – Must be able to work within the budget given by the athletic department.
4. Oral Expression - The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
5. Written Expression - The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
6. Deductive Reasoning - The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
7. Inductive Reasoning - The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
8. Problem Solving - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

Physical Requirements:
1. Near Vision - Must be able to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
2. Speech Recognition - Must be able to identify and understand the speech of another person.
3. Speech Clarity - Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand you.
4. Travel - Must be able to travel on a daily and/or overnight basis.
5. May be required to work nights or weekends.
6. May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
7. May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils, and computer keyboards.


Required Certifications/Licensures: CPR

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Major (if required: Health, Leisure and Exercise Science, Physical Exercise, Sports management, or a closely related field.

Required Experience: Minimum two (2) years coaching experience at high school or collegiate level.

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. Master's degree.

2. Three (3) to five (5) years coaching experience at high school or collegiate level.
