Primary Purpose:

Serves as the entry-level / initial triage resource of the information security office. Facilitates the continuous monitoring and response activities based on the detections of critical cybersecurity tools and systems. Collects, collates and distills critical cybersecurity incident information to stakeholders within the Information Security team.

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Collaborates with stakeholders.

2. Assists in reviewing security and access log monitoring and triaging incidents identified from such monitoring.

3. Assists in running various vulnerability assessment tools and conducting manual testing to identify vulnerabilities within applications.

4. Contributes to preparation and presentation of vulnerability reports and communicates remediation actions to system owners and developers.

5. Assists with forensic and internal investigations as required.

6. Assists with risk assessments and other IT Security related projects.

7. Completes special projects as assigned.

8. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements: 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Basic understanding of information technology and information security practices, including the areas of host security, platform architecture, network perimeter security, intrusion detection/prevention, application security modeling, physical security, systems integrity, and disaster recovery.
2. Ample vocabulary of both technical and informative language to be applied in the communication of complex technology concepts to varying audiences.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
1. Speech Recognition - Must be able to identify and understand the speech of another person.

3. Near Vision - Must be able to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
4. Travel - Must be able to travel on a daily and/or overnight basis.
5. May be required to work nights or weekends.
6. May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
7. May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils, and computer keyboards.

Required Certifications/Licensures: 

Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Major (if required: 

Required Experience: High School Diploma and five (5) years' experience in a cybersecurity or technical support environment,

--OR--

Associate's degree and three (3) years' experience in a cybersecurity or technical support environment,

--OR--

Bachelor's degree and minimum one (1) year experience in a cybersecurity or technical support environment.

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. CompTIA Security + or GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC).

2. ISC2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
