Primary Purpose:
Perform legal research, analysis, and writing for professors related to course preparation and presentation, service projects, scholarship, presentations, and other matters.

Essential Job Functions:
· Perform legal research, analysis, and writing for professors related to course preparation and presentation, service projects, scholarship, presentations, and other matters.
· Update cases by Sherardizing and other methods
· Research, interpret, apply, and summarize legislation, court decisions, and other legal authorities for use in scholarly writing.
· Research statutes, case law, rules and regulations, and legislative history on specified topics assigned by the professor.
· Draft/write memoranda relating to the research topics.
· Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs where the professor is engaged in pro bono litigation.
· Assist the professor in finding and organizing class materials.
· Assist the professor during class by answering questions.
· Assist the professor during class in teaching certain subject matters.
· Grade multiple choice and short answers
· Perform some administrative tasks (e.g., photocopying)
Job Requirements:
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
· Applicants who have successfully completed Lawyering Skills Values I & II or equivalent legal research and writing course are strongly preferred.
· Applicants who have completed the first year of law school and who have mastered legal research are traditionally preferred, but applicants with specialized research skills may also be considered.
· An outstanding 1L after the 1st semester may be considered.
· Attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to work independently.
· A desire and time available to assist the professor in the above tasks.

Major (if required:
Required Experience: Applicants who have successfully completed Lawyering Skills Values I & II or equivalent legal research and writing course are strongly preferred.
