Primary Purpose:

To assist NSU Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine students in understanding and learning subject material and achieving their personal academic goals by preparing them for upcoming class material.

Job Category: Non-Exempt

Hiring Range:  Commensurate with experience

Pay Basis:  Hourly

Subject to Grant Funding? No  

Essential Job Functions: 

1.Attend all Medical Education training and refresher sessions as required.
2.Complete all our main NSU training requirements as requested.
3.Utilizes the following platforms and NSU systems (Zoom: Video Conferencing, Web
Conferencing, online NSU Shark Time (payroll system).
4.Reviews all course material and facilitate tutoring sessions for assigned course(s).
5.Prepare slide deck presentation(s) to provide the tutoring session or Study Tables sessions to the students, following the current course syllabus.
6.Facilitate the tutoring/Study Tables sessions in a 2-hours session and incorporate interactive learning activities.
7.Facilitate the Large Reviews sessions which are offered before the course exams (Large Reviews may be facilitated any day of the week, Saturday or Sunday).
8.Provide requested information accurately and on time.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2. Ability to prioritize tasks.
3. Ability to collaborate with other tutors in shared sessions.

Required Certifications/Licensures: 

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Major (if required: 

Required Experience: 1. Good academic standing.
2. Have obtained a letter grade of “A” or a percentage range of 90% or higher in the
course(s) the student tutors in.

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. KPCOM DO medical students who have successfully completed the course to be tutored.
2. For students tutoring the OPP course, membership to the Student American Academy of Osteopathy (SAAO) would be favorable (demonstrated motivation and true interested in OPP).
