Essential Job Functions: | 1. Installs, repairs, adjusts, troubleshoots, services and maintains electric and pneumatic control systems for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, humidity, laboratory equipment, including calibration of related instruments, gauges and controls. 2. Manages, operates, and oversees automation systems, which include HVAC, pneumatic, lighting, critical lab controls, and thermal ice storage facilities to achieve increased performance and efficiency on all campuses. 3. Supervises controls technicians and outside sub-contractors to ensure projects are completed in a timely basis; provides training for HVAC Control Technicians. 4. Provides coordination for special projects, directing contractors of all trades and other physical plant personnel. 5. Manages projects assigned, to include, but not limited to: analysis of plans and design, specifications review, and Project Initiation Documents (PID) review for all new and renovation projects. 6. Develops and follows control standards, training and testing procedures. 7. Collaborates with Design and Construction and others on any complex automation controls projects for the University. 8. Reviews installation, Input/Output checkout, and startup, prior to Physical Plant acceptance. 9. Provides direction and support for building automation system (BAS) programing and computer graphical user interfaces modified by Physical Plant and outside contractors. 10. Provides technical guidance and direction for other engineers, architects, maintenance, and operations personnel. 11. Monitors and controls temperature, humidity, air pressurization flow rate. 12. Conducts tests of equipment to determine any malfunctions and repairs as necessary. 13. Works with OIIT to maintain system performance, server integrity, and network communications. 14. Researches and orders necessary parts and supplies for maintenance of equipment. 15. Instructs and advises users on proper operation of equipment. 16. Creates reports pertaining to HVAC controls and building automation systems (BAS). 17. Performs other duties as assigned or required. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: 1. Available on call 24/7 for University emergencies. 2. Work rotational shifts, (days, nights, weekends and holidays). 3. Work overtime as needed. |

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: | 1. Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings. 2. Networking TCP/IP, MSTP, Modbus, BACnet protocols and familiar with associated tools. 3. Knowledge of principles and theories of air conditioning and refrigeration. 4. Working knowledge of Internet, Email, spreadsheets, WebCTRL and Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel. Physical Requirements / Working Conditions: 1. Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials. 2. Must be able to safely lift 85 pounds. 3. Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch to gain access to pipes, wiring and equipment. 4. Must be able to handle a variety of hand and power tools. 5. Near-visual acuity needed to read equipment diagrams and inspect parts. 6. Depth perception, field of vision and color vision needed in fitting and installing parts. 7. Exposed to wet and very hot conditions. 8. Exposed to noise and vibration from operating machinery. 9. Must be able to lift any trade tools, material and equipment. 10. Must be able to reach overhead. 11. May be required to work in confined areas to access equipment. |

Required Certifications/Licensures: | Must have and maintain a valid Florida Driver License with no more than 3 points. |

Required Experience: | 1. Seven (7) or more years' experience in HVAC controls industry including building automation systems, direct digital control (DDC), systems commissioning, software operation, integration and calibration with electronic, pneumatic, and building controls. 2. Experience working with computer systems including building automation software (BAS) and Windows. |
Preferred Qualifications: | Associates degree in Computers science, Business, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. |
