Essential Job Functions: | 1. Teaches graduate Physician Assistant course(s) in the classroom as assigned. 2. Selects teaching, advising, and evaluation strategies appropriate to the students and setting. 3. Presents ideas clearly. 4. Creates a climate that is conductive to learning. 5. Stimulates intellectual curiosity. 6. Provides and maintains a reliable schedule of office hours for student advising, tutoring, remediation and consultation. 7. Participates in department and college-wide committees and meetings. 8. Engages in curriculum development related to current and new courses. 9. Maintains a personal professional development plan, which may include scholarship, research, service and/or creative activities, to assure growth and currency within the academic field. 10. Displays behavior consistent with professional ethics. 11. Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating. 12. Provides guidance and direction to program faculty and staff involved in the coordination, support, and instruction of the academic curriculum. 13. Secures, orients, and evaluates new faculty members and adjunct faculty. 14. Provides critical liaison with appropriate offices, department and external agencies involved in medical and allied health education. 15. Develops, implements and modifies as necessary academic calendars for first-year and advanced didactic students. 16. Assists with problem-solving activities related to academic-year instruction and activities. 17. Prepares appropriate reports and necessary self-studies related to program accreditation. 18. In cooperation with the Curriculum Committee and core faculty, reviews and approves content and sequence of academic-year learning units. 19. Composes, edits, reviews and approves learning objectives and test items. 20. Participates in the recruitment, orientation, development and evaluation of new faculty members and adjunct faculty for academic year courses. 21. Provides timely and appropriate feedback for academic instructors in order to assist in improving teaching skills and outcomes. 22. Monitors test administration and results, and oversees all remediation activities as required, including coordination with the Student Progress Committee deliberations. 23. Assists in evaluating teaching and learning effectiveness of the academic-year curriculum. 24. Reviews educational literature and learning media to keep abreast of new teaching / learning strategies. 25. Counsels students with academic and/or personal problems, referring to appropriate personnel or agencies as necessary and in a timely manner. 26. Provides comprehensive updates and progress reports of academic curriculum activities at faculty and staff meetings. 27. Composes, edits and continually reviews information for the Academic Year Handbook, publishing it annually and reviewing contents in detail with the incoming class. 28. Plans and coordinates orientation program of incoming class, including formulation and distribution of materials prior to arrival on campus, and all on-campus orientation activities. 29. Participate in state and /or local community service that is a recognized form of career development. 30. Completes special projects as assigned. 31. Performs other duties as assigned or required. |

Required Experience: | 1. Physician Assistant or related health professional. 2. Masters degree in related area of specialization. 3. Seven (7) years of related experience and/or training, including clinical experience. |
Preferred Qualifications: | 1. Doctoral degree in related area of specialization and five (5) years of experience in healthcare. 2. Current NCCPA certification preferred. 3. Eligible for licensure in the State of Florida, if applicable. |
