Essential Job Functions: 1. Designs and implements rehabilitation programs for ALS and neurodegenerative patients.
2. Leads or participates in research and quality improvement projects related to neuroscience rehabilitation.
3. Leads physical therapy efforts within the weekly multidisciplinary ALS clinic.
4. Manages a monthly wheelchair evaluation clinic, conducting assessments and providing recommendations for wheelchair modifications.
5. Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal wheelchair selection and patient comfort.
6. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
7. Evaluates existing rehabilitation programs and identifies opportunities for improvement or expansion.
8. Analyzes patient outcome data to identify areas for improving service delivery.
9. Ensures that rehabilitation services comply with regulatory standards and institutional policies.
10. Collaborates with physicians to create individualized patient treatment plans.
11. Coordinates training initiatives to enhance the clinical skills and knowledge of rehabilitation staff.
12. Provides clinical guidance to rehabilitation staff, including physical and occupational therapists
13. Contributes to scholarly publications and grant applications.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
15. Completes special projects as assigned.
Marginal Job Functions: 1. Serves as a mentor and resource to staff pursuing professional development in neuroscience rehabilitation.
2. Assists in community outreach and education programs related to neuroscience rehabilitation.
3. Participates in institutional meetings and contribute to operational improvements as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Expert knowledge in neuroscience rehabilitation with a focus on neurodegenerative conditions such as ALS.
2. Medicine – General knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human diseases or disorders. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventative health-care measures.
3. Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
4. Personnel and Human Resources - Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
5. English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language.
6. Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
7. Advanced knowledge and understanding of legislation and regulatory bodies affecting healthcare practices.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

Job Requirements:  
Required Certifications/Licensures: Licensed as a rehabilitation professional in the relevant discipline.
Required Education: Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy (DPT)
Major (if required):  
Required Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in neuroscience rehabilitation, with responsibilities in program development and patient care.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Board certification in neuroscience rehabilitation (NCS).
2. Experience in academic medical centers or research, with contributions to scholarly publications.
