Essential Job Functions: 1. Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical circuits; inspects and tests electrical lighting, signal, communication and power circuits and equipment to ensure prescribed safety guidelines are met.

2. Examines and tests elements of electrical systems to locate obvious faults such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections, and worn motor brushes to ensure proper functionality.

3. Observes and reports, through the work order system defects, deterioration, and wear and tear on the facilities to ensure problem areas are addressed proactively.

4. Communicates with trades people and custodians in the day to day duties and responsibilities to ensure quality of work.

5. Inspects all campus facilities on a routine basis and correct deficiencies found. Observes and reports, through the work order system defects, deterioration, and wear and tear on the facilities to ensure problem areas are addressed proactively.

6. Repairs, maintains, alters or erects any wiring apparatus. Runs electrical conduit for installation of new equipment and wiring as well as installs transformers.

7. Performs routine and preventative maintenance and repairs on electric equipment and circuits.

8. Estimate materials needed and record time and materials expended on each work order.

9. Assists with special event setup.

10. Performs all duties safely and in accordance with established department guidelines, policy and procedures. Reports any injuries to supervisor and manager immediately.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Specific Requirements:

1. Available on call 24/7 for University emergencies.

2. Participates in the on call rotation.

10. Have the skills normally attributed to a Journeyman Electrician who has completed a recognized apprenticeship or vocational program.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:

1. Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials.

2. Must be able to safely lift 85 lbs.

3. Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch to gain access to pipes, wiring and equipment.

4. Handles a variety of hand and power tools.

5. Near-visual acuity needed to read equipment diagrams and inspect parts.

6. Depth perception, field of vision and color vision needed in fitting and installing parts.

7. Exposed to wet and very hot conditions.

8. Exposed to noise and vibration from operating machinery.

9. Must be able to lift any trade tools, material and equipment.

10. Must be able to reach overhead.

11. May be required to work in confined areas to access equipment.
Job Requirements:  
Required Certifications/Licensures: 1. Masters or Journeyman License.

2. Have and maintain a valid Florida Drivers License with no more than 3 points.
Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Major (if required):  
Required Experience: Five (5) or more years experience in the electrical trade.
