Essential Job Functions: 1. Manages daily operations and administrative functions, including opening and closing the office, staff scheduling, managing office supplies, work orders, catering, processing invoices, and overseeing budgets.
2. Hires, trains, and supervises Veteran Resource Center student employees.
3. Develops and refines staff training, standard operating procedures, and student staff roles and responsibilities.
4. Creates short- and long-term office goals, objectives, annual plans, policies, and operating procedures.
5. Provides leadership, direction, and advocacy for a comprehensive array of services, programs, and activities that support student development and align with the mission of NSU.
6. Enhances on-campus resources and services for veteran and military-affiliated students.
7. Supports new and current students through orientations, workshops, information sessions, presentations, and programs.
8. Coordinates ongoing tabling and outreach across campus.
9. Plans and executes annual NSU Military Affairs events and participates in annual campus events, such as NSU Community Fest, Sharkapalooza, Block Painting, Involvement Fairs, Homecoming Week, Weeks of Welcome, and Orientation.
10. Promotes available commissioning programs to incoming and current students.
11. Coordinates annual orientation presentations for incoming Health Professions programs.
12. Presents commissioning opportunities to Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions staff for recruitment purposes.
13. Manages cadet and cadre data.
14. Serves as the NSU liaison for veteran and military-connected resources and services.
15. Responds to student inquiries regarding enrollment, veteran and military education benefits, scholarships, discounts, and other relevant topics.
16. Maintains high visibility to identify opportunities for networking, outreach, and collaboration with on-campus partners.
17. Manages official NSU Military Affairs email and social media communications.
18. Updates and maintains the Veteran Resource Center website and social media platforms with new content, images, upcoming events, and current information on relevant policies and procedures.
19. Creates collaborative opportunities between veteran student organizations, student government, and other student-led initiatives.
20. Conducts research, benchmarking, and assessments of current practices, policies, and events at peer and aspirant institutions.
21. Collects and maintains accurate data records of veteran and military-affiliated populations.
22. Develops ongoing marketing campaigns for Veterans Resource Center campus-wide events.
23. Attends university training sessions and meetings as appropriate.
24. Completes special projects as assigned.
25. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Marginal Job Functions:  
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Administration and Management - Working knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and/or coordination of people and resources.
2. Personnel and Human Resources - Working knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and personnel information systems.
3. Customer and Personal Service - Thorough knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of user satisfaction.
4. English Language - Thorough knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
5. Education and Training - General knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
6. Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), social media platforms, and Canva.
7. Knowledge of current VA educational benefits.
8. Direct experience working with the U.S. Armed Forces or veteran populations.

Abilities:
1. Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
2. Inductive Reasoning - The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
3. Deductive Reasoning - The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
4. Ability to market through social media and physical advertising (tabling, flyers/posters, promotions).

Physical Requirements:
1. Speech Recognition - Must be able to identify and understand the speech of another person.
2. Speech Clarity - Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand you.
3. Near Vision - Must be able to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
4. May be required to work nights or weekends.
5. Travel - Must be able to travel on a daily and/or overnight basis.
6. May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
7. May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils, and computer keyboards.

2. Five (5) or more years of military service.
