Essential Job Functions: | 1. Serves as a link between management, employees, and Human Resources by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts, and helping resolve work-related problems. 2. Confers with management to implement personnel policies or procedures. 3. Performs searches for qualified job candidates, using sources such as computer databases, networking, Internet recruiting resources, media advertisements, job fairs, recruiting firms, or employee referrals. 4. Provides current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages and contracts, opportunities for promotion, and employee benefits. 5. Contacts job applicants to inform them of the status of their applications. 6. Interviews job applicants to obtain information on work history, training, education, or job skills. 7. Reviews and evaluates applicant qualifications or eligibility for specified licensing, according to established guidelines and designated licensing codes. 8. Selects qualified job applicants or refers them to managers, making hiring recommendations when appropriate. 9. Conducts reference or background checks on job applicants and vendors, and assists with employee drug and background screenings. 10. Interprets and explains human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations. 11. Maintains current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). 12. Monitors and corrects time and attendance records. Serves as the unit’s primary Payroll coordinator. 13. Sends and complies new hire paperwork to candidates, including I-9 employment verification, and sends it to the Office of Human Resources for processing. 14. Utilizes NSU Careers to initiate the new hire workflow, to update job descriptions and submit reclassifications. 15. Prepares or maintains employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software. 16. Assists Managers with questions related to Student Employment hiring, as well as navigating the university’s student employment portal, JobX. 17. Processes student hires for the division’s central administrative unit. 18. Submits scholarships and maintains accurate records of funds disbursed for assigned unit. 19. Maintains and updates human resources documents, such as organizational charts, directories, or performance evaluation forms. 20. Provides management with information or training related to interviewing, performance appraisals, counseling techniques, or documentation of performance issues. 21. Maintains employee data integrity and confidentiality. 22. Completes special projects as assigned. 23. Performs other duties as assigned or required. |

Administration and Management – Working knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and/or coordination of people and resources. 2. Personnel and Human Resources – Working knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and personnel information systems. 3. English Language – General knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. 4.
