Primary Purpose:

Provides strategic leadership in fundraising, donor engagement, and community outreach to advance the mission and visibility of NSU Health. Supports the development and execution of comprehensive advancement initiatives that align with the university’s Core Values and goals, fostering philanthropic support, building strong community partnerships, and promoting NSU Health’s impact across the region.

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating, all in accordance with the University policies and procedures.
2. Works with a small portfolio that consists of transformational gift prospects.
3. Directs and integrates the activities of multiple, major project operations; ensures that project efforts are generally cohesive, consistent, and effective in supporting the University's mission, goals, and strategic plan.
4. Develops and establishes policies, strategies, and operating objectives consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient and effective implementation of major cross-University projects and/or projects tied to strategic institutional priorities.
5. Participates in and oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of individual project objectives and short- and long-range plans; develops tracking and evaluation programs to assist in the accomplishment of established project goals and objectives.
6. Develops and implements special events and programs designed to identify prospective donors, trains the professional community and to market the university giving opportunities. 7. Leads the process of securing major philanthropic gifts to support funding priorities of NSU Health.
8. Manages and advances with a portfolio of approximately 200 prospects each year.
9. Manages and implements initiatives in order to engage new donors to NSU and secure major/leadership gifts.
10. Supervises and works closely with the Campaign Committee to lead the process of securing major philanthropic gifts, some of which may be blended gift commitments.
11. Develops, administers and manages complex, multi-faceted budgets and business plans for component units, as it relates to project development and deployment at an institutional level; performs periodic cost and productivity analyses.
12. Recommends and participates in the development of university policies and procedures; may serve on University planning and policy-making committees.
13. Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to the University's strategic directions and plans, and relevant state-of-the-art systems and technology.
14. Oversees an inventory of NSU’s memberships community development groups.
15. Supervises the requests for leadership appearances for community partner events, ad requests, expo table and booth fulfillment and other benefits provided by partnering organizations.
16. Oversees the research and identify funding opportunities for federal grants.
17. Stays current on industry trends, best practices, and new funding opportunities.
18. Collaborates with program teams to develop budgets for grant proposals, ensuring alignment with programmatic needs.
19. Completes other projects as assigned.
20. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements: 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Broad knowledge of the principles and practices of annual giving, special events, major gifts, and major gift fundraising.
2. Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
3. Advanced knowledge of State and Federal laws as well as University policy and industry standards as it pertains to alumni,
prospect, and donor relations/ information.
4. Working knowledge of Information Management Systems.
5. Personnel and Human Resources - Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training,
compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
6. Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning,
resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people
and resources.
7. English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of
words, rules of composition, and grammar.
8. Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

4. Travel - Must be able to travel on a daily and/or overnight basis.

7. May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils, and computer keyboards.

Required Certifications/Licensures: Must possess a valid Driver's License and automobile insurance.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Major (if required: 

Required Experience: Ten (10) years of experience in principle gift fundraising in a higher education or non-profit setting.

Preferred Qualifications: 

(1) Master's Degree
(2) CFRE Certification
