Primary Purpose:
Supports the financial planning and analysis function by assisting in the development, monitoring, and reporting of operating budgets. Contributes to strategic decision-making by providing detailed financial analysis, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with departments to ensure budgetary compliance and alignment with institutional goals. This position reports through the University’s central finance office and will support one or more of the colleges.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Prepares, examines, or analyzes accounting records, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and compliance with university guidelines, policies and external regulations.
2. Reports to supervising finance director regarding unusual fluctuations, discrepancies, or anomalies within finances of assigned unit(s).
3. Assists with the development of assigned unit(s) annual budget. Develops, maintains, and analyzes budgets of delegated areas, prepares periodic reports that compare budgeted revenues and expenses to actuals.
4. Tracks and analyzes financial performance against budgets and forecasts. Identify variances, research exceptions, and recommend corrective actions to ensure financial targets are met.
5. Interprets budget directives and ensures compliance.
6. Reviews purchase orders and check requests for accuracy and verifies availability of funding for expenditures. Prepares and records journal entries and/or budget transfers as necessary.
7. Reviews operating activity to analyze trends affecting budget needs and takes corrective action when needed.
8. Analyzes revenue by program to explain variances to budget, prior year, and ensure tuition is properly charged per approved tuition rates.
9. Compiles and analyzes accounting records and other data to determine the financial resources required to implement a program.
10. Provides advice and/or technical assistance with cost analysis, fiscal allocation, and budget preparation.
11. Summarizes budgets and submits recommendations for the approval or disapproval of funds requests.
12. Assists in the timely completion of financial sections of annual accreditation requirements and other external financial reporting needs, such as surveys.
13. Collaborates with the Office of Innovation and Information Technology to ensure proper recording of software and hardware within assigned unit(s).
14. As applicable, oversees the work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, mentoring, training, conducting performance evaluations and any other related actions to ensure efficient operations.
15. Directs the preparation of regular and special budget reports.
16. Seeks new ways to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase profits.
17. Completes special projects as assigned.
18. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Required Certifications/Licensures:
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Major (if required: Accounting, Finance or Business preferred
Required Experience: Four (4) to six (6) years of accounting-related experience.
