Primary Purpose:

Coordinates clinical services and provides support for faculty and students through management of the simulation lab/nursing skills lab.

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Coordinates affiliation agreements, umbrella affiliation agreements, and criteria for student placement in affiliating agencies for the BSN program. This includes obtaining preceptor agreements and assuring appropriate placement for students during the nursing practicum.
2. Assures clinical site requirements are met by students and faculty and that evaluation of clinical sites are completed in timely manner.
3. Assists in coordinating background checks, immunizations documents, CPR/BLS, health insurance, and drug screening.
4. Maintains database of all documents and updates as indicated.
5. Collects data and identifies trends from the student course clinical evaluations.
6. Obtains appropriate clinical placement sites for students; evaluates clinical sites for appropriateness for the level of the student.
7. Submits request for clinical placements each term as indicated by the clinical agency.
8. Assures clinical site requirements are met by students, including preceptor agreements and evaluation of clinical sites is completed in a timely manner.
9. Negotiates for clinical sites; recruits, orients, and places adjunct faculty.
10. Interacts with healthcare agencies to plan student rotations.
11. Advises students on program progression and evaluates students in the clinical practicum setting.
12. Provides documentation related to students clinical performance and participates as needed in developing clinical outcomes measures.
13. Evaluates teaching and learning effectiveness of the clinical-year curriculum.
14. Provides progress reports of clinical curriculum activities at faculty and staff meetings.
15. Participates in state and/or local community service that is a recognized form of career development.
16. Oversees and monitors expenditure and trends utilization of clinical supplies based on human patient simulation and nursing lab needs.
17. Identifies, organizes and manages supplies required for each nursing skill and human patient simulation clinical experience.
18. Orients faculty and students to the nursing and human patient simulations laboratory teaching and learning method.
19. Acts as clinical faculty resource and manages clinical skills practice sessions in the nursing skills and simulation laboratory.
20. Keeps up with current nursing practice and evidence-based research in human patient simulation and clinical skills education.
21. Enhances clinical nursing education using human patient simulation and skills lab experiences that support the didactic course content and level of the student.
22. Suggests and implements the newest educational experiences and teaching scenarios to enhance the students nursing clinical experience as approved by the course faculty.
23. Modifies current human patient simulations to meet specific course objectives as recommended by the course faculty.
24. Explores new innovations and equipment which could be utilized to increase the clinical realism of the human patient simulation and nursing skills experiences.
25. Serves on College and University committees.
26. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements: 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Administration and Management - Working knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and/or coordination of people and resources.
2. Personnel and Human Resources - Working knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and personnel information systems.
3. Customer and Personal Service - Thorough knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of user satisfaction.
4. English Language - Thorough knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
5. Education and Training - General knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
6. Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements:
1. Near Vision - Must be able to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
2. Speech Recognition - Must be able to identify and understand the speech of another person.

4. Travel - Must be able to travel on a daily and/or overnight basis.
5. May be required to work nights or weekends.
6. May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
7. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.

Required Certifications/Licensures: Active, unencumbered RN or ARNP Florida license

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Major (if required: 

Required Experience: Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years related experience.

--OR—

Master’s degree and zero (0) to two (2) years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. Master’s degree
2. Experience working with simulators.
