Primary Purpose:
Oversee the financial stewardship, and operational success of the ALS Multidisciplinary Research Program. Manages a rapidly expanding portfolio of ALS clinical trials, across federal, foundation, and industry sponsors.
This position is contingent on the availability and continuation of external-funding and/or contract. As such, any offer of employment may be withdrawn or employment ended in the event the external funding and/or contract ceases or is reduced.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating, all in accordance with the University policies and procedures.
2. Oversees all aspects of grant and contract budgeting, including pre-award budget development, post-award financial management, forecasting, and variance analysis.
3. Ensures responsible stewardship of research funds, prevents budget overages, and aligns financial decisions with project timelines and sponsor requirements.
4. Ensures accurate and timely financial reporting to sponsors, institutional leadership, and regulatory bodies.
5. Collaborates with finance, grants management, and principal investigators to reconcile expenditures and support audits and closeouts.
6. Directs the preparation, submission, and maintenance of central and local IRB documentation.
7. Ensures compliance with institutional, federal, and sponsor regulations, including FDA, NIH, and GCP standards.
8. Maintains audit readiness and serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits, inspections, and monitoring visits.
9. Supports growth of the research portfolio by identifying new study opportunities, assessing feasibility, and collaborating with investigators and sponsors to expand clinical trial activity.
10. Serves as a key liaison with sponsors, CROs, institutional partners, and funding agencies.
11. Represents the ALS research program at national and international meetings, conferences, and professional forums.
12. Completes other projects as assigned.
13. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Job Requirements:
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Expert knowledge in neuroscience rehabilitation with a focus on neurodegenerative conditions such as ALS.
2. Medicine – General knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human diseases or disorders. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventative health-care measures.
3. Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
4. Personnel and Human Resources - Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
5. English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language.
6. Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
7. Advanced knowledge and understanding of legislation and regulatory bodies affecting healthcare practices.

Required Certifications/Licensures: Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) certification
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree
Major (if required: Life Sciences
Required Experience: 1. Minimum ten (10) years of experience in clinical research coordination and project management.
2. Experience managing a team of research coordinators.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience in academic medical centers or research settings.
2. Experience with progressive neurodegenerative diseases.
