Primary Purpose:

Manages the operations and strategy for areas in Student Affairs including but not limited to registration, student services, career advising, student activities and annual student related events.

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Supervises and coordinates work activities of support staff in Student Affairs.
2. Provides support for the strategic direction of the KPCOM Office of Student Affairs programs and activities aligning with current Student-Centered strategies.
3. Represents Student Affairs at weekly Director’s meeting amongst KPCOM graduate programs hosted by the Executive Associate Dean for Undergraduate, Graduate, Technology and Community Education.
4. Collaborates with the Office of Clinical Education, University Registrar, and Financial Aid to appropriately register and bill students throughout their 4 years.
5. Represents the Office of Student Affairs in meeting with the Office of Clinical Education and Medical Education to advise students who have failed their boards.
6. Represents KPCOM on University Wide FAAR committee
7. Participates in the planning and organization of the annual KPCOM FTL White Coat Ceremonies, Match Day, Awards Ceremonies, and all other social events for the students of KPCOM.
8. Collaborates with the Office of Clinical Education and the Registrar to ensure that all students attend the University commencement, and that all requirements are met for degree conferral.
9. Responsible for managing KPCOM’s SGA. Works with student leaders from all KPCOM’s programs to ensure all rules and regulations are adhered to.
10. Attends and participates in national professional association meetings.
11. Works with the Peer Mentors as they execute their functions within the DO Society structure.
12. Plan, coordinate and supervise the drug screen event for the DO students every Winter semester.
13. Assist with the compilation of data for reports from the Office of Student Affairs
14. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements: 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Administration and Management - General knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
2. Personnel and Human Resources - Working knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
3. Customer and Personal Service - Thorough knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of user satisfaction.
4. English Language - General knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
5. Psychology - Working knowledge of human behavior and performance, individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
6. Digital Media - General knowledge of digital media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and persuade via digital, web, and social media.

Required Certifications/Licensures: 

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Major (if required: 

Required Experience: Five (5) years in academic administration, development, alumni services or closely related experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Master's degree
