Primary Purpose:
Manages the South Florida State Hospital pharmacy operations, ensures the safe and effective distribution of medications, and upholds compliance with state and federal regulations as well as patient care standards. Teaching and service are essential responsibilities. (Clinical Track).

Essential Job Functions:
Administrative Duties:
1. Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating, all in accordance with hospital and university policies and procedures.
2. Manages all operational activities of the hospital pharmacy and collaborates with college leadership and hospital administration to ensure optimal pharmacy performance.
3. Prepares, compounds, and dispenses medications.
4. Procures, distributes and controls pharmaceuticals in compliance with standards of practice and federal, state and local laws.
5. Implements best practices for storing and disposing prescription drugs and controlled substances, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
6. Manages drug inventory and the coordination of supply orders.
7. Confirms prescription information with healthcare providers
8. Manages and actively participates in medication therapy management, disease management, and other clinical pharmacy services.
9. Completes data entry tasks for prescription processing, inventory billing, report generation, and file maintenance.
10. Delivers informational and educational programs on medications and therapy to patients, caregivers, and staff.

1. Precepts students on their experiential learning experience.
2. Assesses clinical education needs and patient and client teaching needs using a variety of methods.
3. Coordinates training programs as needed.

Research & Scholarship (encouraged but not required)
1. Conducts research and/or scholarly activity in a particular field of knowledge and publishes findings in professional journals, books, or electronic media.
2. Writes and submits grant proposals to procure external research funding.
3. Participates in peer-review activities related to grants and manuscripts for publication in journals.
4. Supervises undergraduate or graduate or professional students’ teaching, internship, and research work.
Service & Professional Development
1. Participates in campus and community events, such as giving presentations to the public.
2. Actively identifies opportunities and provides service relating to fields of expertise for the benefit of internal and external communities.
3. Provides professional consulting services to government or industry is encouraged.

5. Attends graduation, convocation, white coat ceremony and other assigned college activities as requested.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

6. Must be able to work in a clinical setting.

Required Certifications/Licensures: 1. Must have a Florida Pharmacist’s license.
2. Valid and active Florida Consultant Pharmacist license by date of hire.
3. Must undergo a complete hospital background check.
Required Education: Doctoral Degree
Major (if required: Pharm.D.
Required Experience: 1. One (1) year of post-doctoral/residency experience OR three (3) years of academic/clinical experience.
2. Prior experience in a psychiatric hospital.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. College-level teaching experience and/or research experience.
2. Board Certification or appropriate credentialing.
3. Completion of an accredited ASHP or ACCP residency.
4. Three (3) to five (5) years of pharmacy practice experience.
5. Previous experience as a Pharmacy Manager.
6. Prior supervisory experience.
