Primary Purpose:
Responsible for the accounting, reporting, and compliance of institutional revenue streams in accordance with GAAP (ASC 606). Including review and interpretation of contracts, oversight of deferred revenue and receivables, and participation in the contract-to-revenue lifecycle, as well as integration with the eContracts system. Supports institutional financial integrity and contributes to strategic decision-making through timely and accurate financial analysis.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Reads, interprets, and reviews detailed contracts to ensure proper GAAP revenue recognition and adherence to accounting policies.
2. Develops and implements procedures and workflows to improve efficiency and tracking of revenue activity, including alignment with contract intake and review processes.
3. Monitors and reconciles revenue-related accounts, including deferred revenue, receivables, and other contract revenue streams.
4. Coordinates with units for the accurate recording of receivables and ensure timely collection and recording of payments.
5. Ensures compliance with institutional policies, state and federal regulations.
6. Evaluates contract terms, revenue recognition treatment, and timing of recognition in accordance with institutional accounting requirements.
7. Assists with monthly, quarterly, and annual flux analysis.
8. Manages specific reconciliations for areas such as deferred revenue, inter-company transactions, and inventory from campus departments.
9. Assists in budget development and variance analysis for auxiliary and other revenue-generating units.
10. Implements and maintains internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
11. Supports audits and compliance reviews related to revenue streams and related documentation.
12. Works closely with department heads, auxiliary service managers, and other units to ensure proper revenue recognition and reporting.
13. Provides guidance on financial policies and procedures for revenue-related activities.
14. Participates in contract intake and review processes, including eContracts, to support alignment between contract terms and financial reporting.
15. Completes special projects as assigned.
16. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Job Requirements:
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
1. Strong knowledge of GAAP including revenue recognition principles.
2. Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
3. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Required Certifications/Licensures:
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Major (if required): Accounting, Finance, or related field
Required Experience: Eight (8) or more years of accounting experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
2. Experience in higher education or nonprofit sector.
3. Experience with auxiliary enterprise operations.
4. Familiarity with compliance requirements for higher education institutions.
