Essential Job Functions: 1. Contributes to basic and applied research activities.
2. Performs a variety of tests, makes detailed observations, analyzes data, and interprets results. Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
3. May participate in the publication of significant results.
4. Advances expertise through education, training, and/or research experience.
5. Collaborates with community members, stakeholders, and partners in all phases of research to ensure the inclusion of community perspectives and priorities.
6. Engages in co-development of research goals and processes with community members to promote equity and shared decision-making.
7. Assists in the facilitation of community training sessions and data collection efforts that ensure ethical involvement of participants.
8. Works with stakeholders and participants to translate research findings into action.
9. Performs other job duties as assigned.
Marginal Job Functions:  
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge:
1. Biology - Knowledge of plant and animal organisms, their tissues, cells, functions, interdependencies, and interactions with each other and the environment.
2. Chemistry - Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
3. English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
4. Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
