Primary Purpose:
Ensures the efficient daily operation of the Public Safety Department Field Operations Division. Serves as a primary administrator for the Public Safety Incident Report Management System. Provides supervisory oversight on evening and night shifts.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Serves as a Field Training Coordinator (FTC) by providing comprehensive training and mentorship to new and existing Public Safety Officers, focusing on patrol procedures, emergency response, report writing, community engagement, and fostering professional development and departmental culture.
2. Monitors, evaluates, and supports officer performance as an FTC, delivering constructive feedback, addressing skill or knowledge deficiencies, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies, protocols, and legal regulations.
3. Collaborates with department leadership as an FTC to enhance the Field Training Program, identify team performance gaps, and develop strategies to address operational challenges and improve overall effectiveness.
4. Manages the Field Operations Quality Assurance (QA) Program, with the assistance of the Field Coordinators, by reviewing reports and logs. Ensures that QA feedback is provided to each Public Safety officer.
5. Assists in the development, implementation, and updating of policies and procedures relating to delivering quality public safety services uniformly to the NSU community.
6. Responds to verbal and written complaints or inquiries from the public and other governmental agencies. Provides information on departmental regulations and procedures; explains methods of resolution that will be utilized to rectify the complaint. Consults with the Associate Director of Field Operations regarding the inquiry, its resolution, and any subsequent training or policy updates.
7. Accounts for equipment, materials, and supplies assigned to Field Operations to ensure proper inventory levels and operational readiness.
8. Manages audits of all security related tools including mobile devices and lockout kits and to specifically identify for repair nonfunctional equipment, and to identify any hazards.
9. Supervises, monitors, performs maintenance, and ensures repair to Field Operations spaces, equipment and systems.
10. Works closely with other NSU departments including but not limited to Facilities Management; Residential Life; Human Resources Recreation & Wellness; and Athletics in ensuring Public Safety services and personnel are providing effective support.
11. Provides supervision during evening and night shifts.
12. Assists in the management of investigations including the assignment and delegation to Coordinators and Officers to investigate specific incidents, crimes, personal injury and property damage occurrences, suspicious situations vehicles or persons and complaints.
13. Schedules personnel for shift assignments while ensuring that overtime and minimum staffing levels are met.
14. Assists Public Safety Administration in the reporting of any incident, condition or situation that could negatively affect the ability of the Public Safety Department, or any other University entity to function in the most productive manner to the benefit of the university.
15. Conducts self-initiated problem solving, literature reviews, and staff studies recommending operational improvement for overall effectiveness.
16. Provides administrative support to the Public Safety Department, and coordinates with the NSU community in preparing and executing special projects for the University.
17. Follows departmental guidelines and policies to ensure quality customer service is provided to internal and external stakeholders.
18. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Required Certifications/Licensures: 1. Have or obtain a valid Florida Drivers License with no more than three (3) points.
2. Have or obtain a current Florida "D" Security Officer license within the first six months of employment.
3. The individual appointed to the Senior Coordinator role must complete a non-sworn public safety academy and a non-sworn public safety leadership course, both currently offered by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), within six months of assuming the position.
Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Major (if required:
Required Experience: 1. Two or more years of experience in Public Safety Dispatch, Customer Service, Security, Police, or Military experience.
2. Three years of experience training and supervising employees in a public safety or a police dispatch center.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in interviewing, onboarding, coaching, and the professional development of employees.
